Loud bang heard st 154 & 51

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Loud bang heard st 154 & 51

Post by StungTrengBooBarang »

Not much to say, but ill post it as interest.

Street 154, close to st 51 intersection.

At aprx 10:(20-22)pm i heard quite a loud bang, had a look on street and saw no accident.

10:25pm and there is maybe 20 cop/army types there, some questioning a tuktuk parked outside that small ktv place, others using torches searching the area.

I guess they thought it was a gunshot or some very very small explosion.

withing 5 mins most had left, leaving at least 2 dudes with rifles standing at the corner kerbside for a bit.

So yer not that big a deal, but they sure thought it could have been something.

Thats a thought to anyone risking getting a look at the march this sunday, i dont recommend it, and please keep your children far away.

thanks

I'm guessing gunshot.

I heard gunshots outside my place once when I lived near Wat Phnom. Apparently it was a robbery and luckily nobody got hurt.

The security has been ramped up a bit recently. It's going to be looking very tight by Sunday.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's going on come Sunday?

The funeral of Kem Lay. His body has been at a pagoda on Chruoy Changva since he was killed, but the official funeral is on Sunday.

Ah, thanks. That clears things right up.

I thought I've already seen many pics of that event, but clearly that wasn't his "funeral."

Reminder for expats and foreigners in general, there will be large crowds on Sunday, starting at dawn, and the situation may or may not turn violent, but sure there will be traffic jams in the area; just be cautious : https://cambodiaexpatsonline.com/newswor ... t9751.html

To all Phnom-Penh-ers just seen about 15 tanks headed to the royal generdarmie... probably a good idea to avoid Kem Ley's funeral on Sunday or just genreally any gatherings...
