I Lost a $1 Bet with a Girl at Tokyo Barbershop

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The girl on the far right is the Rubik Cube Queen.

The one on the far left is the one that tried to pierce my eardrum.

Well, aren't you superior?
I met expats who will judge you if you drink certain beer, wash your cloths a certain way, eat certain food and small thing like bragging about things like they have never taken a massage or paid for sex in asia.

This fella is prob one of em.

Ha! I was right going against type and I knew you'd put her out in front, too. Anyway, nice selection at the shop. Thanks for the tip. :beer3:

Haha 8)

Now concerning the ears picking I was dead serious.
It takes years and lot of fear sometimes suffering to get to appreciate it, so IMHO it can be used as an integration level criteria. Not that becoming khmer is to be regarded as a life time achievement though :pardon:

I don't think I'd do it again. It was scary as hell, and seems risky, no matter how cute she was.

I cringe thinking about it. Probably scarred for life now.

In Malaysia I got my "ears cleaned" by someone putting a hollow candle in my ear and proceeding to light it on fire.

Some mumbo jumbo if you ask me. Doesn't seem like it would actually do anything.

Somehow having a lit candle in my ear wasn't half as terrifying as having someone go prodding in my ear with long metal tools, tweezers.

The whole thing should have been done in hospital, knocked out with anesthesia and a layer a morphine drip.

At a Khmer wedding right now. Kinda wished I had gotten them to put more wax IN.

Getting beheaded would be less disturbing than ear cleaning.
