Living the dream with shirtless Sean Chance

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Probably England. I seem to have a memory of John Cleese or Ronnie Barker using it on TV around 1980.

You didn't watch the video then, did you? That is a direct line spoken by the shirtless guy in the video. That is not my view at all.
That's something that no joker guy is always going on about in his videos too. He has somehow assumed that all male expats here are fat, greasy 60+ slobs who walk around with 15-year-old hooker girlfriends. Maybe I just don't go out to the same places as him, but I don't see this. I do sometimes spot old guys walking around with worn-out 20-35 year old hooker types, but I would guess by the way they dress, act etc that these guys are mostly tourists.
People who don't know or don't want to know better tend to make strange assumptions. When my son was just born, I was waiting by a tuk-tuk nearby a hairdressers in BKK for the misses and her sister to finish getting their hair done. A relation was holding my son - at the time she was about 16 and quite small. This NGO woman walks past and I don't think I've ever seen such a disgusted face in my life. I felt like shouting "She's just the goddamn babysitter", then I thought what's the fucking point, she's already convinced herself.
It's the impression one gets stepping off the tuk-tuk to the Riverside from the airport. Fat, greasy 60+ slobs who walk around with hooker girlfriends. They are, of course, mostly tourists on their yearly whore monger trip from Europe or America, but it doesn't fill most airheaded 20 something backpackers-come-deadbeat-expats with admiration. :stir:

I came to PP even before that article; still had no urge to walk around shirt-less and film myself with an 8mm camera or whatever was in vogue at the time.
My point was not to take part in a "pissing contest" lol; just a reminder of how you felt when you first arrived - whatever the year - and to cut this guy some slack because he's just arrived and all is new and exciting.
Fortunately I never felt the need to "share" with strangers online at the time. But don't mind sharing here that my first hours/days in Cambodia were so so fun. It was like being on a trip. So, yeah, I forgive this guy for being an idiot - seems like it's his first visit outside of Kansas.
C'mon, how did you feel when you first landed (at whatever date, who cares) ?

people use the expressions on these forums as whenever theres an expat that someone knows, thats gotten into shit or done something wrong etc. theres always a poster that claims that the guy is actually a "top bloke" or "good bloke" really lol

He really ought to build a Youtube identity like Randall. Such funny shit! Or even better, Randall could narrate his own commentary over Sean's videos.

one can understand the WOW reaction, but the fact that almost every thing he says is made up shit from his tiny self centered peanut of a brain, unforgivable. He's breathing my air, dammit. Make him stop.
Sadly it seems STUPID is the new norm.
and you know what? he'll probably stay and thrive. But GOD I hope not.
