Living well, cheap

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Nice website. Who built that for you?

Just have to say, I'm glad I don't drink Guiness. 500 ml can only $39.74

Titanic restaurant in SHV do a great portion of Chicken cordon bleu in a great sauce with chips/potato/mash + Salad for $3.50

Snooky bar in SHV have daily specials where you get the selected main coarse + a beer for $3 monday - friday
:thumb:
Titanic is my regular restaurant in SV. Food is cheap and good - lovely family run the place. They also serve very good fresh shrimps. Did you try their shrimp fried rice served in half a pineapple ? Wicked. And they do good breakfasts at any time.
Snooky offer beer or a glass of wine with their evening specials for $3, so good value place also.

Otherwise, in PP my go-to place for cigs and booze is Lucky Drink.
Last minute: Just seen your post FLB and taken note.
Great minds think alike ;)
Titanic was a great discovery, used to eat there most nights, the only downside was food often took quite a while to be dished up, albeit the food was piping hot!
Snooky is more my regular joint now as i prefer the menu, cant go wrong with Pie, Chips + Gravy hmmmmmm :P

whats everyones 1st choice place to eat down the beach?
i've eaten most places but im a Martinis regular, been eating there for the past 3 years, good friends with the owner and the khmer staff

Have been having Xmas dinner with the family at Mick and Craigs for the past several years.
Usually have at least one meal there each visit to the beach.

We usually grab breakkie at Sofitel or Raffles. Keeps the common riff raff from disturbing our eye-sight. Mangy ol mutts...Ahhh, life is good.

Kampong Spooner wrote:The pies in superstore are cheap, but shit. The japanese bakery inside the entrance is great for bread and stuff. Doesnt pork and rice cost the same in most places? I must admit i never ate in in the central areas because i always lived outside, and trips into the main area were brekfast treat times.

Everything else seems reasonable. How much should a pineapple cost etc?

I rest my case.

The guinness and others that seem highly priced are case lots.

Actually, the one place I went to, the $1 included the iced coffee.

Since iced coffee usually ranges between 1000 and 1500, it was a good deal

I've seen pork and rice as low as r2500, or up to r5000, both without the coffee

I normally buy 1kg of coffee grounds, wifey uses the Viet cuptop maker to make 500ml every night, and it goes into the slush bucket for my morning ritual, obviously works out way cheaper than individual restaurant buys, but the other reason is convenience
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
