living in dorms in cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. living in dorms in cambodia

Post by phrammoianchor »

I recently checked out a dorm room in siem reap for 3 dollars a night on the out skirts down a alley (unpaved road).
If i combined 2 mama noodles per day ans. an allowance of 1 egg in each mama I could eat twice and sleep in a bed for 4 Dollars!!!.
So cheap and wonderful here in Cambodia perhaps I will by a bottle of the wonderful Mekong whisky for 3000 riel tonight to celebrate my discovery.

If you're paying a dollar for 2 mama noodles and 2 eggs, you're getting ripped off. For 50 cents you should also be getting some vege with that, plus a free bottomless pot of tea.

Well im quite sure that 300 dollars a month would be enough to live but surely i can confirm the fact that I would leave with some sort of brain damage from the alcohol consumed to keep away the boredom of being broke in Cambodia long term.

Too late for the brain damage. Don't blame Cambodia for that.

I thought they stopped making Mekong "whisky" in Cambodia a year or so back?
Not that I give too much of a fuck, but I feel a bit sad when I see
construction workers or whoever buying a few bottles
of that Super Whiskey or Alexand etc,
the stuff is just rot-gut poison and
on this very forum we have
proof of it's debilitating
effects on
the human
mind.

Do you mean how much for the free bottomless pot of tea? I'm not really sure. Maybe you could check it out and report back.

wouldn't someone want to enjoy themselves ?-- esp in a country that is so cheap? Sounds like a social experiment and he will be able to write about it in his journal.

So you're paying $90 or so dollars a month for a bunk bed
in a communal room where you have little or no privacy?
Sounds like a great deal bro.
If only I had your survival skills.
