Last Straw ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Forgive me for asking but how did plastic save a lot of trees
In the 50s/ early 60s, cigarettes were good for you, and plastic and asbestos were de facto miracle solutions. Corporate propaganda. Old generation bought into it

So many depend on plastic Straws like we see here:

These straws destroy some people's life much faster than expected. Prey Sar is a terrible place !

Not much to say. Went to school in Mombasa and my parents first lived in Mtwapa north of Mombasa and then moved to Tiwi south of Mombasa. Lived there until my A-Levels.

The solution could be hemp and other natural products that grow fast like bamboo. But it is necessary to have a recycling system for all the materials used. From electro waste to plastics. There should be laws enforcing recycling even if the costs were higher than the extraction or productions costs of new materials. That's where subsidies would make sense and not the subsidising agriculture products to Africa farce.

By not requiring the products to be made of paper or wood.

Hello Strawfans.
No need to worry, there's light at the end of the "STRAW" Tunnel. Lately i got offered stainless steel and glass straws both which i find unhygienic because i have my doubts about cleaning these little tubes inside properly.

Now there is a straw on the horizon that you can actually eat, after finishing your drink of course: Welcome to the LOLISTRAW !
