This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Just a note. Buying land is perilous for foreigner's in Cambodia. At some stage you will need the goodwill of your wife/girlfriend/shareholder's and Police but it will be a Cambodian who decides your fate.

Anyway those who were interested, thanks.
Thank you for posting the outcome.

Yeah , thanks Andykk.........SOLD

This was unintentional . Frank ,who I don't know, wanted a plot in koh Kong for his bees. I offered a piece of land for him but he wanted to rent only. As for the pm, the general has my permission to disclose all of them.

I saw a nice plot in koh kong in 2008/9 and paid 8,000 for it, the full asking price. Anyway a huge building plot for $8000, get them while you can.

As a background story my wife, who is from Kampong Cham, also loved this area in koh kong. I suppose its similar to being in a midland part of your country wherever you come from. You like to see water, river or sea.

Anyway I thought she is nuts selling it.

Good job selling (even if you weren't actively trying to sell?), but how did she sell it if in the UK...? She needs to be in the country to sell land. Also, I don't think you need to lecture anyone about buying land here, you bought the land in your wife's name as well. We're all aware of the dangers and possible pitfalls.

I would not have thought it would have been any hassle at all dealing with a foreigner! Everything with dealing with a foreigner would hopefully have a smooth and positive sale, with the sale price monies in the bank. Regarding paperwork on the Soft Title, and the authorities, that would have still been dealt with by fellow countrymen (Khmer).
At some stage you will need the goodwill of your wife/girlfriend. Yes this is correct. She said it was too much hassle to deal with foreigners! It may be true, but her dealing with a foreigner in the first instant gained her the land she has now sold. I think a good transaction with the so called foreigners help.

Anyway my wife arrives in Cambodia on the 2nd October for 3 weeks. She has not signed anything because she is not there! You can go and see the land if you want and do a deal if that is what you want. Hire a mini bus and all go together? A cambodian has made an offer below the $8,000 I paid and will be accepted if a higher offer is not offered. I saw this land only for 1 hour years ago so can't answer many of the questions posed. Go and see it and you will want it.

Thank you again Forktongue2 for another reply, confusion of not wanting to sell to a westerner, then prepared to sell to a Khmer, to be offered a lower price.
No disrespect to you or your wife, but I think dealing with her alone on the sale of land would possibly be flawed with difficulties.

As once again for me, I have found some very suitable riverside land not far out of town. The land is to be sold in plots of 10x29. $1500 per plot. Seems to be the way of doing land sales in this area at this time. Today the clearing and land fill should be completed, The Khmer lady owner has arranged for me to go over this afternoon to see the measured plots. She is aware of what area I want, and how many plots.
