Gloria Jeans on the riverside just gave me a $50 instead of a $5 in my change. I will have a shower and then go back and correct their mistake. Why? Because it is the right thing to do ... but (and please be honest) what would you do?

About a month ago, my wife and 2 kids went to SuperDuper Mart to buy a couple of things. All that they bought fitted into one plastic shopping bag.
My 2 kids, attempting to outdo each other, both grabbed a plastic shopping bag full of groceries each without realizing that only one belonged to us.
The wife and kids came home and discovered their mistake.
I sent them straight back to return what was not ours, and apologize. After all, they do have security cameras.

Re: I know what I will do but would you do the same?
I would do the same and have in the past.
I have also correctly pointed out to staff in bars / restaurants if something has been forgotten on the bill so they can go back and correct it.
To me it works both ways, if it was an incorrect charge against you you would do everything you could to get it corrected. You cannot expect that to happen and then pocket the profits if someone makes a mistake in your favor, well you can but I consider it a dick move.

I would enjoy my next 10 cups of free coffee, and hopefully get the same cashier again.IraHayes wrote: what would you do?

I always return money that is giving in overcharge as i know the cashier is responsible when they are short
Usually what i will do is stand there with the change till the figure it out
Always get a thank you and smile

I would return it too
On my last trip to Cambodia in Feb 2016, I found that nearly 50% of the time, I was undercharged in restaurants/bars, usually because they got the number of beers I'd had wrong on the tab. I always pointed it out when paying the bill, & the staff were appreciative

Haha, I know your average Riverside tuktuk would probably not.

Honesty is the best policy, always. Especially when staff can lose wages for mistakes.
