Jerry Springer could give it a shot.SmartAston Martin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 5:07 pm Sorry, just joined this thread. Sorry to the whole family, you all must feel torn apart.
But isn't this like a real life Captain Fantastic, with role reversals? Wild.
Only love or lawyers is gonna fix this one.

I'd love to let him give it a go

Oh I don't know. I guess it's because he got granted temporary custody due to false information, so everyone's saying to take it up in the states. It's exhausting trying to keep up with all the people, lawyers, and PI's he throws at us, but I'm trying my best to clear up any misconceptions and questions. Thank you very much for your concernSmartAston Martin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 5:07 pm Yeah, me too.

How'd that guy get so much support? Way out here?

Re: CHILD ALERT!!! (8-Year Old American Boy Taken From Mother By Angry Ex in Sihanoukville)
[ Just the summary, according to the PP Post. Condolences for this terrible separation, Mira. ]
Runaway mom with kids to Cambodia.
September temporary sole custody order of the boy by a place in Massachusettes for the father. (!!)
Unopened email serving this order. No trace of a mailed service. (!)
Non-violent stopping and "apprehension" of the teenager girl and boy by the A-team, blokes with a legal order. (in summary). Maybe they talked too much on the car ride, but uneventful.
Teenage daughter left at the Embassy. Mother and daughter remain.
Flight to states, package delivered.
Seems the sister of the teenage gal lives back home as well. Grandpa, too.
Judge (name not mentioned) didn't seem to think there was evidence of (major) abuse. Mira contests the evidence.
I doubt ABC didn't run a check on Kanieff, unless they're old buddies.
Whatever the case may be, these ladies here in Cambodia need serious help and legal advice.
I'd double check the judge, and the A-team, just to be thorough (they'd check us out, right?). If they're legit, then it's a family matter, not a legal one.
Mira, seek well-recommended PROFESSIONAL advice, about family matters, etc. Again, professional.
Make some smart moves, get with some good people and you'll all be fine.

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.
Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

Is it just me that feels this way, but, shouldn’t the thread title be changed. The boy was not kidnapped, the father is his legal guardian as per the courts and cannot really kidnap him.
I agree Mira being caught up in this was kidnapping so maybe say 17 year old girl kidnapped instead of 8 year old boy.

I have to wait and see on this one. Keeping the girl for the boy's well-being makes sense, I think everyone agrees.
I hope all's well that ends well.
Just another intrusion into the peaceful world of Cambodia.
Now I feel like a Pakistani.
The boy gets a nice Christmas present, doesn't he?

A facebook comment that sums up everything pretty good:frank lee bent wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2017 6:20 pm court orders outside this jurisdiction. says a lot despite public squabbling
a) The custody is still being litigated in court.
b) The court order for the custody had not yet been served, and as such the US embassy was under no right to issue a passport for the child without the signature of both parents.
c) Regardless of US law, the "extraction" of the child should have been dealt with in coordination with the Cambodian authorities. The request should have come by the US government and the father's legal team. Under no circumstance he was entitled to go grab him by himself. Breaching such a procedure constitutes abduction. He can hardly claim to be ignorant of such procedures as he works for an organisation that conducts such extractions worldwide.
d) Mira, over whom the perpetrator does not have custody, was also abducted before being eventually released. Just because she was released, it doesn't mean the abduction was not illegal to begin with.
e) Especially because the custody is still being litigated, the mother should be informed as to the whereabouts of the child and his welfare.
f) There is no conclusive proof that the child is indeed in the US.
And also this:
Oh, another thing...
Unless the case has been ruled on by the court with the highest level of jurisdiction for the case, both parties involved in litigation (or their legal representatives) must be able to be contacted to provide the "losing" party the opportunity of appeal.
You cannot hide and deny the opportunity of legal recourse to one of the two parties.

Cambodia is a signatory of the Hague convention. Those orders are valid in Cambodia.frank lee bent wrote:court orders outside this jurisdiction. says a lot despite public squabbling
