you would be surprised, most of the tourists/backpackers i get talking to now really dont have a clue about cambodia, they just expect its the same as ThailandSamouth wrote:Yes some. It is not new that people read about the places before they are heading too. It is really good to understand and know something about the places you are visiting. You will know what to do and what to expect. I always read about the place before i go to visit even in the country.prahkeitouj wrote:I think barang know about our country and scams more than us. Embassies act in their nation's best interests. Maybe flying homeless destitutes isn't in their nation's best interests. Just saying. Singlets don't provide much...

Yeah...you're right. Still, I would find it appropriate if the people (the little superfluous idiots called tax payer) would be in their best interest.BOFH wrote:Embassies act in their nation's best interests. This. Some people come here and are totally clueless, they couldn't even find Cambodia on a map. Amazing in this day and age of Internet.Jamie_Lambo wrote:you would be surprised, most of the tourists/backpackers i get talking to now really dont have a clue about cambodia, they just expect its the same as ThailandSamouth wrote:Yes some. But that's off topic.

I agree there are people who are clueless about KOW and travel here. However, the majority of tourists i have talked are very well-informed about Cambodia. They sometime know more about scams in Cambodia then i do.Jamie_Lambo wrote:you would be surprised, most of the tourists/backpackers i get talking to now really dont have a clue about cambodia, they just expect its the same as ThailandSamouth wrote:Yes some. I think it depends on the demography. When I worked in SR we had many American and Australian visitors doing the river cruises that had no clue.
And many backpackers are not very clued in, either. Otherwise they wouldn't flash their tits inside Angkor Wat.
And I still see people falling for the milk powder scam though admittedly less. Though that might also be because many guesthouses and bars have put up signs.

You are right. As i have agreed above. Not all of them were well-informed before coming down to Cambodia. I did heard about milk powder scams in Siem Reap. However, i was not targeted when i was there a few times. Was it because i am local, not sure?hanno wrote:I think it depends on the demography. When i was travelling to Battambang, but stopped a few nights in Siem Reap, i didn't realise that we could take boat from Siem Reap to Battambang until i read some advertisement.
