The KR had money printed, quite a lot of it as a matter of fact, but it was never issued to the public. Real or not, the bills should be crisp and in excellent condition since they were never circulated.
Heh interesting LTO, that makes me feel a little better about them being crisp. I doubted the few I saw because of this fact.

According to this reference (Banknotes of Cambodia: 2012 edition by Geoffrey Oldham) the DK money did have limited issue in some parts of the country.

It used to be quite common to see them on sale in the Russian Market years ago, not sure if they still flog them now or whether or not they are the real thing.

The KR printed a very large stack of them in 1975 but as LTO rightly says, they were never issued and therefore never become legal tender. Actually the rumour is they were printing in Vietnam before they KR took Phnom Penh which is why the National Bank of Cambodia was one of the first buildings ramshackled and destroyed on April 1975
