Khmer foreigner rating system — it's riel

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Right from the start, I could sense that the purpose of this thread was to make it known that most of us are losers, who are hated by the locals.

I guess the OP is attempting to tell everyone something that they already know?

I believed they thought we were all the same, whether we were half naked and filthy drug addicts sleeping rough or wealthy investors who hob knob with high society. I'm shocked. Can someone try and make a scale so we can figure out where we are in society? 8)

0. Half naked broke filthy drug addict rolling around in the gutter screaming abuse at locals.

1. Alcoholic retiree sex pat on tiny pension who constantly berates shop staff for not understanding his gutteral English. Often has fights in his one room apartment with ice head hookers.

2. Jumped up TEFLer who hasn't much self control and behaves most of the time but occasionally gets black out drunk and causes minor scenes.

3. Well adjusted foreigner who has a reasonable command of the Khmer language and customs. Has a relatively good salary and avoids any confrontations.

4. More affluent foreigner running business who can afford a nice car, villa and generally behaves but has good connections and can find a way out of problems.

5. Rich investors with multiple businesses and properties. Fraternize with the top echelons of Khmer society and have top connections. Usually extremely well behaved.

Of course there are people who might fit in different categories. I've mainly concentrated on behaviour and how it might be perceived. Amendments are welcome.

I am merely pointing out a sociological fact. I am not voicing any judgement about whether I care about it or not. Ryan, I would wager you must be the typical American who shuts off any discussion before it's begun...like big daikon and many others of your ilk.
No, I’m not American… and I’m not trying to shut down the discussion..
Luckily. The thread's into a 4th page on day 1.

Whole lotta people-judging going down yesterday, with Finland rated the Happiest Country in the World, for the 7th consecutive year. It's Scandinavian neighbours predictably came in next best, with Switz and Israel (stats over 3 years and they avoided some atrosities. They won't be so lucky next year) in their usual top-10 pozis too.

Aphgans are the unhappiest. If u get stuck next to one on a long-haul, don't say how r ya? Good to borrow money from a pessimist, though: They don't expect to get paid back.

There was also the mental coping awards. No capitals because I made that title up as a description of the contest, I forgot the name of, which Dominican Republic won.

I saw a guy with a hawk/falcon pet, today. Arm glove, the works. Did a land for me. I wasn't about to start a thread for that mention, but I rate him cool, to stay on topic.

Having a fighter bird would definitely get your rating up. Signal a riverside landing for the judges.

The gossip of common boors about losers and crazies is all that is interesting to you prats...

Also, this observation is underscored by my acute ability to touch your ribs with appropriately pithy jibes about prostitutes... Since you are all John's like me anyway, lol...

Bourgeois middle class conservative fucktards, that is ALL you dweebs are, and all you ever will be . . .

Go to the over-priced Amcham spectacular next Wednesday...

I don't like America or Americans, you are right.

Enjoy your talk about overeating and spending too much to live like you think a big king should live, or the greedy pleasure you get when some corrupt general or business doink pays for your jubilee junket at the shitty resto.

I don't care about any of you or any of your families or your property or your opinions...

Don't worry, cry it out. All Canadians are 1 star by default, so you're completely average!

I apologize for being able to buy and sell the likes of you and I'm also sorry your peepee don't work right anymore.

Life is tough, you need to harden up, snookems.

Half naked, foreigner who has a reasonable command of the Khmer sign language and customs, enjoys rolling around in the gutter, and avoids any confrontations. Can find a way out of occasional problems, with a premeditated solution, bc, while prevention is always better than the cure, it is also riskier not to take risks.

Better than the "alcy sexpat w/ tiny penis on", and #2, so might be able to mingle, and fake my way into Club 3.

Ok so basically:

1 star = cheap charlie racist
5 stars = big spender whatever
Yes, I think I am a 1-star (although not racist) to most appearances because I give very little back to the society here, with the exception of helping a few friends with dental or medical attention, but nobody knows about that. . . . . I experience erectile dysfunction with prostitutes, so I look cheap . . . ...

On the other hand, teenage girls and very smart and educated women are a big turn on for me. Giving them money makes me go real soft, though. What can a guy do?
He could keep it to himself
