If you want clean go to Singapore or go home. (Newcastle is very clean and the people are friendly. I sound like explorer..)
Don’t know why people are so angry or shocked when they see shit loads of rubbish piled up or floating down rivers.
If you really care about the issue work in a school to educate children. The adults are a lost cause.
Attitudes are changing. Slowly.
There are more than 100 different “Newcastles” or New Castles” around the globe, in many different countries and in many different languages.

He’s got the Union Flag on his profile, and he uses the word “rubbish”. So let’s wildly say he’s British.
How do you know which Newcastle I was referring too?

In Koh Kong town some local women volunteers pick up trash along the river front. It isn't as bad now that they have moved most of the food vendors to a different area.jaynewcastle wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 11:49 pm Why would the locals complain ?
They're the ones who cause the litter problem in Cambodia, and its just normal to them
Cambodia is the worst litter covered country I've been to. I remember last year travelling back into Phnom Penh by bus, and the outskirts were just like driving through a rubbish dump

Cleaning up after a concert is the responsibility of the concert organisers, no? Hence the complaints. Cleaning up after Cambodians sounds like a Sisyphean task.davegorman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 2:11 pm Same people complain EVERY time there’s a market or concert but they never go and help pick it up.
They must have very empty angry lives.
I don’t ever see locals complaining.
Scarier than malaria.

I agree but why complain (every. Single. Time.) when we know it’ll get cleaned up. Does every time.ali baba wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 12:41 pmCleaning up after a concert is the responsibility of the concert organisers, no? Hence the complaints. Maybe I’ll post pictures of the concert/market getting set up and complain “Look. So much rubbish soon. What a disgrace. Probably.”
Or maybe follow the vans and trucks leaving their houses and make a complaint on FB about what’s going to be happening soon. Quite possibly. Outrage!

Having concern's of the area where you live, and the environment in Cambodia. Then the, world clean up day 2019. 21st September is the 2nd event and it will for sure, be happening here in Cambodia. I think anyone interested in doing their bit will find information on Facebook.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Exactly. If you’re slightly concerned get the F involved.
Otherwise STFU.

Has no one seen the mess after the Melbourne Cup or ang big event in Australia? Its the same.
Re: Kampot Litter Disgrace After Exhibition
Looks aboutthe same as glastonbury to me, but people pay for the tickets so there is money for a cleanup squad.
Re: Kampot Litter Disgrace After Exhibition
Does it not make you chuckle, that a number of the Glastonbury festival attendees purport to be "eco-warriors", yet are happy to leave their mess behind? My niece is a perfect example (4 festivals so far), at 20 years old, preaching that we (us older people) are poisoning the earth and destroying the habitat. But she uses more single use plastic than I do. I pointed this out, but apparently, "that's different"!!! Go F*****G figure!!
