In November 2013, McLay was sued by his chiropractor, Sam Colarusso, for defamation. Colarusso claimed that McLay made defamatory statements about him on yelp.com and other websites, calling him “Killer Colarusso” and a “Quack-o-practor.” These online statements also accused Colarusso of crushing his face during a chiropractic treatment and breaking his nose and leaving him permanently disfigured and also falsifying medical treatment records.

In July 2015, the court granted a default judgment to Colarusso in his lawsuit against McLay, because McLay never responded to any of the court filings against him.

Two months later, McLay filed a petition in court to change his name to Jonathan Ferrari. He told the court that this name change was not for the purpose of defrauding creditors, it was for the protection of himself and his child because he was a victim of domestic abuse and needed a new secret identity. “Jonathan Ferrari” was a strange choice for a new name to hide from a violent abuser because McLay had previously appeared on television at wrestling events under the name “Jonny Ferrari.” McLay also asked that the court seal the case so there would be no record of the petition for name change, but it appears this did not happen.



Online court records do not show if McLay’s petition for name change was ever granted. He moved to Cambodia soon after.
