Irishman Tomas Beecher Hit and Killed by Range Rover

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Yep, soon as you read 'white Range Rover' you know exactly how it is going to go.

Poor guy, my condolences to his family who will no doubt be tying to piece it all together.

Sad story. **Not blaming the innocent victim** - just wondering if maybe he was a little tipsy after a night of drinking at 1:30 am. Several streets in PP are difficult enough to cross in broad daylight while sober as a judge. I hope the police catch and punish the driver, but I'm guessing his defense lawyer will claim that vehicle had just been stolen, and that it wasn't the owner who was driving at the time. Of course, no eyewitnesses to prove otherwise. Standard Operating Procedure for the wealthy/connected Khmers is such circumstances.

A young life is cut short.

Simply, out on his, or with his bike. Not as a result of over indulgence, just the wrong place at the wrong time.

My heart felt condolences to his friends and family and I hope someone somewhere has the connections to get someone, somewhere to ask the right questions.

R.I.P. Tomas

Because the police do not enforce the traffic laws and jail/fine scofflaws its dangerous and a crap-shoot to even stand on a sidewalk much less try and cross a street. (Don't get me started on highway #4.)

wtf!!!

"As parents, they will deal with the case and he [the father] will try to persuade his daughter to clarify the case,” Mr. Kunthea said, adding he needed to collect more evidence before making any arrests." Yes, a fatal hit and run is hardly a police matter.

Tomas Edmond Beecher, 30, was walking his bicycle across Monivong Boulevard near the intersection of Street 278 in Boeng Keng Kang I commune at about 1:30 a.m. when the SUV broadsided him, killing him on the spot.

this is one of the most sobering NEGATIVES concerning life in Cambodia. They really have no police or court system.

Yep, the ones who walk on the downtrodden show their true colours when they have an accident, they flee. I get so sick of watching morons deciding that traffic laws don't apply to them and putting lives at risk.
