Introduce Yourself

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Hi my name is Martine. Hubby, Mike and I arrived in PP 3 weeks ago with intention of staying for a while. So far we've done all the tourist spots around PP, spent a week in Sihanoukville and back in PP this week job hunting and going to interviews. Becoming a little holidayed out now and looking for ideas of things to do around PP and even where to go for weekend trips. Would also like to know of places to go swimming, missing the water of Sihanoukville already. On another note would also like to meet up with other members for a cuppa or a drink. Just so you know, we're in our 50s.....young 50s.

Hello, my name is Dave. I have been coming to SEA for the last 10 years, mainly to the Philippines, and have decided to explore new areas. Married to a Filipina (at least for now) but just generally tired of the Philippines and Thailand too. Know a couple guys who made the Move to PP a few years ago and they love it so I booked myself a ticket to see what all the fuss is about, lol. As I was doing research I found this forum and been lurking here learning as much as I can. Hope to learn more and if I ask a dumb question flame away as I have think skin.

kampot is usually a good weekend trip from PP, easy to get to, a lot of my friends normally do that,
the olympic stadium has a big swimming pool which is cheap to use
hope you enjoy your stay and good luck in the interviews

PP has a good casino called nagaworld with a good bar and free beer for punters, free boxing events at the stadium on weekends, lots of cheap bars , cheap night clubs and easy access to snooky and kampot if you wanna get out of the capital.

personally I understand that your bored of Thailand It's getting to expensive strict and boring there .
Cambodia is definitely cheaper and friendlier for now but slowly I see them getting greedier and greedier as the years go by turning little bit like Thailand slowly but surely.

Thanks for the reply’s. Yeah not a rock steady relationship, jumped in too soon I suspect but like I said I am tired of the Philippines for good reason, mainly being my bank account, lol. From what I have deduced Filipinos are a "give me more" nation and no matter what I give it'd never be enough. Sometimes a guy needs to draw a line and say enough is enough. Besides, I am kind of crusty old fart and I like being alone :)

I am American from Alaska BTW. So got my ticket for July and staying the first week at the Bougainvillier Hotel in PP then go from there I guess. No real plans other than doing a little exploring and sightseeing, I will be in country for a month. Might head to Ho Chi Mien City for a few days if I get the chance too. Looking for some place I can retire too in a few years so wish me luck.
