Introduce Yourself

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

We came over in October last year for dental treatment- I needed 7 crowns and some other work. We fell in love with the kingdom and when we got to Sihanoukville, decided we never wanted to leave. We went home, packed up and came back within two months.
I'm an ex journalist and run a business online writing CVs and cover letters for people. I started when I was working in a mining town, focusing on people wanting jobs in the mining industry. Three years on and I now have clients all over the world in every industry imaginable and live in Cambodia. Life is amazing!
That's kickass!

I actually got a professional to do my CV and I love it. Looks flawless, and I've had several other people ask to use the same CV format as mine, which I was kind enough to help out with.

Shocking how lame some people's CV's are. It is quite often the VERY first impression a company gets about you, and I think most people overlook how crucial it can be to have a nice one.

:good:

Oh, and a belated "welcome to CEO," LoL.

I'm wanting to join this free dating site and need a professional to write a good cv for me. As you say , First impression is important.
I'm willing to pay big beers for it.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Aww sorry GM! It's amusing when someone sends me a cv for an appraisal and it's my own template. They can duplicate my layout but they can't write the same.

Ha! Funny you say that...

I was recently helping someone apply for jobs and I had TOTALLY forgotten that I had let them use my CV template quite a few years ago.

I started reading their CV and my brain started to melt. I was reading MY cv! My brain freaked out!

After a few seconds I realized I practically was reading my own CV, LoL.

Midgets with tourettes are a guaranteed winner, though.

I chaired a recruitment panel for a reasonably high level government job once - one of the applicants had worked for us for a while, and during preselection the panel realized the guy had submitted my old CV, unchanged, not knowing I'd be on the panel. By the time he got to interview he was locked into the lie - and the guy had balls, he went through with it without flinching.

I see the most unbelievable stuff on CVs you just can't believe the things people write about themselves.

Honestly! It's unbelievable. You'll be in business for a long time.

I helped a Cambodian girl get a job teaching at a school in Phnom Penh, and in her cover letter she says, "I'm a high school dropout" and I really had a hard time getting her to change it, LoL.

She got the job.

Also seen pitiful CV's from westerners.

Maybe you could help this guy out?

Oh dear god. One client, a school teacher, had her whole CV in caps. Then there are the 15-20 page people who are adamant that three pages will never be long enough for their super important CV. Then there was the supervisor who couldn't spell her employer OR her position, I shit you not!
