Introduce Yourself

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Hi everyone.

I'm Jay, just another American that's hoping to have a bit of fun in the Kingdom of Wonder. A few years of working overseas just may cure my boredom. I've no debts, family or obligations, so why not check it out?

Seriously though, I actually am an ESL tutor. For the last decade I've had people asking me if I planned on teaching overseas and I became curious. Eventually I sold all my toys, got my paperwork in order, planning on leaving the summer of 2020. Then this plague struck and I was left with an empty apartment and a pissed off look on my face.

My fingers are crossed that I'll actually make it there by THIS summer.

Good luck to you, I watch with great concern as I think the prices in Cambodia will continue to be greatly inflated by Chinese influx. Unless I am mistaken it is still viable to live under 300 USD a month very well if one does not mind living to more local standards.

Gidday people.

I've been lurking around here for ages but only joined recently. After living abroad for years then returning to my home country to see how I liked it I decided to jump back into the ESL world. It seems like with others here and in the comments section of the Youtube channels I've been following, as soon as I decided 'right, let's do this' and got all excited about it the covid hit. So, like about half the world now I'm in a kind of holding pattern waiting to see how this unfolds.

Anyway, here's hoping the vaccine improves the situation, I hope the people on the ground there aren't finding life too hard with things getting shut down due to the virus and here's hoping I get to meet some of you in the near future.

Hi, I have just booked a hotel in P P for 1 week in November 2021 with a guarantee of no financial penalty should I cancel 8 days before my arrival.
I receive my second arm full of the Oxford jab in April so, along with the proposed Vaccine Passport I think I just should be okay to come for my short visit .
FINGERS CROSSED. What's your opinion ?

Who knows ? There's a full-on Covid outbreak in Cambodia right now and there is mandatory 14 days quarantine for all visitors. Do your homework and decide closer to the time whether it's worth the trip.

Greetings, I'm snoink.
I'm a filfthy even-toed bipedal ungulate who reads, writes and speaks english. Sometimes I go a bit krazy at the trough, which has an uncanny amount of booze in it. Here, however, I don cheap bifocals and affect an air of sophistication.
Enjoy your day.

Hello everyone.

Have been reading the forums for some time in anticipation of coming to the Cambodia. Employment secured, and plans made for travel, but with everything that is changing right now, the future is uncertain. I know my wife and I may seem like mad people for planning to come at this point in the pandemic's effects on the country, but wheels are in motion. Living situation, employment, visas and other factors are coming to a point that forces the matter.

From the UK originally, have lived in England, Wales, Canada, Scotland and South Korea. Have travelled to many, many countries. I have low friends in high places and high friends in low places, and everything in between.

As for me, I'm fairly straightforward. Some greying in the hair, some widening of the waist. No time for fools, all the time in the world for friendly individuals. Cycling, music, some gaming, board games, cards, walking, hill and mountain walking, forest delving, urban exploration, writing, experiencing interesting and unique adventures, exploring consciousness, reading, learning, amateur learning on science and space and growing personally are all things I enjoy. Fairly traditional by many measures with a dash of the non-conformist when the time arises.

Hello to all. :)

Hi everybody

I lived in Cambodia from 2008-2012. Moved to Dubai because my wife got a much better job here. That was a big mistake, I loved Cambodia and as luck has it we got divorced in 2017.

Now I’m ready to retire and move back to Cambodia in 2022 or 2023 I hope. I know conditions are difficult there but I am ready. I have lurked here for a year or so and hope I can contribute more and meet some of you in the near future.

Best regards
Dan
