Re: Introduce Yourself
Cambodia is a fun place, but most of the fun things to do usually involves drinking, as its cheap and theres not a great deal to do if you spend anything more than a month here, the people that dont drink usually smoke a lot of weed, some do both, some get hooked on ice, expat fatalities are highbeercans4540 wrote:Wow looks like i have to take up drinking to be in this country. As for teaching english shit some day have trouble even speaking it.i live on small town in central queensland nothing to do beside going to one of the pubs . Make me wonder way pepole say things about a country find it hard to belive its so bad there . Wonder way any overseas person lives there . Must be real bad. My i could in Port sheep to keep aussie happy save the poor ladys there.
not everyone drinks though, there are many expats here that dont drink (anymore) mostly due to work or now have families to take care of, with you only coming for 6 months some people just end up staying in holiday mode, which is fine if you got the self control
anyway good luck and hope you enjoy your trip and keep posting on here with updates/questions

Hi. I'm teakman and just registered on this site today. been living in phnom penh for a year and half and before here, was in Thailand for 33 yrs. I was making furniture in Thailand(no workshop here yet ) and importing construction wood. I still have a few thousand teak trees in Laos hence my nickname. I enjoy reading your site and hope to make some worthy contributions to it if can. thanks.

Re: Introduce Yourself
My name is Andrei, have been in Cambodia several times as a tourist, first time was when Serendipity beach was quiet, and spend day time in a hammock in front of Malibu Bungalows. Things changed since then, but Sihanoukville is stll the perfect place for my taste: cheap accommodation, food and drinks, decent nightlife and still a nice beach (Otres). I will retire in 5 weeks and plan to spend more time there, few months in the dry season, my only concern is the diminished life expectancy there, due mainly to motorbike accidents, but also lower standards in healthcare.
Some suggestions on monthly accommodations would save another post, I am looking for a furnished room with fan, aircon, private bathroom, linen provided, in a quiet area. Last year I stayed on VH and was excellent, but I would like to see other suggestions.

I second that motion (re. the Retard ). The least he could do is stay out of Introduce Yourself and stop harassing new people!
I miss SinnSisamouth and Sailorman. But my aim is getting better!
