How's your New Year ?
Re: How's your New Year ?
My momma made the dryish beef. It's from Seattle.

You've got to give cooking a go mate. Once you start getting it right, you'll never go back. At least that's how it was for me.
Before then I used to only eat noodle cups and Mountain Dew as a teenager. Now I can have pretty much anything I want made exactly the way I like with ingredients I trust. No more dealing with the trots, much less money, and the food tastes great. All around win as far as I'm concerned. Also a hell of a lot of fun if you like being adventurous.
Helps you score with the ladies as well.

I know the basics, I just forget when I go shopping. I went to get brocolli beef stuff, I forgot sugar and corn starch. So I ended up making steak and toast.

I agree. I get takeaways or eat out a lot, but that's not really practical over the long-term. Sometimes it's a drudge, but I quite enjoy cooking other times. I like having control over the results.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

Sihanoukville is not particularly crowded either. Lying on my bed with my laptop. Just fixed a bug in a remote system. Nothing unusual today.

Absolutely jam packed in Temple Town. The bus too 1 hour to go from Phsar Leu to the bus station, that is only about 3 kilometers. They were supposed to have finished all the new bridges before the New Year but obviously didn't.

More or less doing nothing but enjoying the show out here. It's a lot like last year only louder. Massive traffic on the main highway, lots of young yard apes hurrying to the local wat to drink, dance and fight. Already had one fight between two gangs. No police this year they called in the military, but the soldiers were drunk and perhaps deliberately ineffective.
Learned a new idiom at the market yesterday. "gnor khtouille" . Gnor usually means shiver and the last word means butt. It was said by an old lady at the market who was disgusted at the way young village girls were dancing. Only one possible translation for this: to shake your booty.

As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

I like the sound of "shiver butt". Seems appropriate.
