offered to build a house on their ground for only 5000 USD.

I think this is not to much and equal to 2 years rent for a apartement. Why you see here so much danger? My girlfriend never asks me for money, has a job and when we are out together she pay her/our little things by herself (tuktuk, drink ...).

She told me everything about her past without lies, i know her working place and the working place before. Also her family is not bad, they also never ask for money - when i invite them to eat in a restaurant they choose a cheap one and i pay maybe 20 USD.

And the best thing of all: She love me with her full heart.
Back home, would you build a house on the land of your parents in law? Or would you acquire your own plot?
Cause the plot is close to the city centre and i dont want to spend 50.000-200.000 USD for the ground, i am happy to just pay a bit and get it cheap done.
And btw they are also offered me to live in the old house (for free) in the ground floor and put a AC for 300 USD inside as alternative. But i think this would be maybe a bit to much for us not cambodians. So i really prefer this cheap house build.

Do you know what the official fee is? It's about USD 375,-. So 2.000 sounds a bit steep, don't you think?

Again, you and your GF can arrange it by yourselves for about 1.000 if something is wrong, or you need a fast procedure (6 weeks). Or arrange it for EUR 375-400 if you have all the correct documents (3 months).

If you need contacts and want to burn money, contact member NewKidOnTheBlock. He used a fixer.

You could also send your GF to the ministry of Foreign affairs to inquire. The MoFA can also act as a fixer for you, for much less than 2.000.

Okay thank you very much for the info.

Does anyone have this document for the consent of the parents scanned somewhere?

Kerburus....just send your GF to the MoFAIC to make enquiries and collect the application forms and list of required documents, they have these in English and Khmer.

You're making this whole thing way more difficult than it needs to be.

I guess because Cambodian law requires This in case of a marriage with a foreigner. This requirement is not mentioned anywhere And I feel like This is merely an attempt of MoFA to delay the process to guide people in the more lucrative ‘fast lane’.

i did not know that, nor ever saw it mentioned.

this is from here;
I see no mention of consent of parents.
You will need to present the following to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;

1. "Application for foreigner to marry Khmer citizen" (provided by MoFAIC)
2. Certificate of non-impediment/single status/divorce certificate (if applicable)/ex-spouses death certificate (if applicable)
3. Criminal record check from your country of citizenship
4. Passport with valid E type (Ordinary MEEV) visa, minimum 6 months validity
5. Letter of employment/proof of salary minimum $2500USD p/m (Male only). Work permit/work book/business license if employed in Cambodia.
6. Letter from your Embassy - permission/consent to marry
7. Pre-nuptial Medical certificate from Calmette Hospital (no older than 3 months)
8. 2x passport photos

NOTE: Foreign males must be under 50 years old to legally marry a Cambodian citizen in Cambodia.

All above documents must be notarised/certified from your nearest Embassy except 1,6 and 7.

Khmer partner will need to present;

1. "Certificate of celibacy, widowhood, divorce" (single status) from Sangkat
2. National ID card
3. Birth Certificate
4. Family Book and/or Carnet de Residence
5. Pre-nuptial Medical certificate from Calmette Hospital (no older than 3 months)
6. 2x passport photos

Note: The blood tests are for HIV, Hepatitis, and a few other diseases, chest x-ray is for TB. Cost from Calmette for the blood tests, x-ray and medical certificate is $120 per couple ($60 each). You will need to take your passport/national ID card, as well as 1x passport photo per person.

Once the MoFA processes the documents which takes about 1-2 weeks, you will be issued a letter which you must submit with all of your documents to the Ministry of Interior. You will both be interviewed by someone in the MoI, and if they are satisfied it will take approximately another 2+ months for them to issue an authorisation to marry letter, which you will then need to submit to your partners Sangkat, who will then issue you with your marriage certificate.
If you've got your head screwed on, got all your paperwork in order, have patience, and can follow my guide then it's only going to cost you appx $500 to do it in Cambodia. It really isn't that difficult, as proved by the nearly 20 couples I

You're not really referring to a post from 2019....

My info is from 01-2019.

<edit>
About five weeks ago I was at the MoFA in PP and one of my 'countrymen' was there for the marriage process and both documents provided by MoFA I referred to (consent of parents + list of questions about how the couple met) were still obligatory. The first one being a pain in the @ss because you can't fill it in on the spot, it needs a signature + stamp from the sangkat the parents live in.
