Yes it was a close call for my friends son a few months back. My lady to put it mildly is obsessed with the little buggers, spraying the rooms at night and coils everywhere. I would like to try an electric one, but never known much about them. But the amounts of spray she will use must also be unhealthy for us too.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

This rainy season, there are way too many mossies in my house as well, and I’d like to do something to get rid of them.
My concerns:
If these electric insect repellents actually kill mossies, how bad are they for people living in the house?
Likewise, if RAID leaves a film on everything and that film kills bugs, are we perhaps slowly poisoning ourself by walking / coming in contact with the stuff?

I have so far only used RAID locally to get rid of roaches and ants.
What do you guys think?

(And yes, that’s in Phnom Penh.)

Thank you for the tip, Frank. Sounds promising.

Among others, I found this interesting article on pyrethroids : http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pi091

"Pyrethroids are one of the least acutely toxic insecticides to mammals because they are quickly deactivated by metabolic processes. However, rats fed high doses (1,000 mg/kg of body weight) showed liver damage (Hayes 1982). Toxicity by inhalation and dermal absorption is low."

Are you aware of any household products / devices that make use of this insecticide? Is that what these electrical+chemical mossie killers use?

Update:
I have found it as a liquid on Amazon, but how to deploy it in a more or less automatic way?

male mosquitoes feed on nectar, fruit etc
putting out poisoned sugar-water can help a whole area:

where can you buy boric acid?

maintaining 'honey traps' for them to lay their eggs can also help an entire area:
