Only about a quarter of the farmed palm oil is used for fuel.phkachhouk wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 2:20 pm I saw the bit about clearing woodland and the staged (orangutan “fighting” the excavator.
It was being cleared for palm oil. Mostly used for bio diesel that the various governments told everyone to start growing.
But he doesn’t mention that.
I think this old fool should be retired.
Wasn’t he just a voiceover so probably never left his cost Devon farmhouse?

Comes down to definitions and the changing meaning of words, I guess. A traditional definition of cult would be strictly religious, although these days we tend to use it for any group of people (adherents) that have fervent beliefs in something that the wider population doesn't see or necessarily agree with. Like iPhones.tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 10:50 pm I just found it odd that you called people concerned about the environment a "cult" ? All religions started as cults i am not sure when a cult becomes a religion, maybe its the numbers ?
Charlie
Make no mistake, The Environment is a cult these days.

The other three quarters is used to make cheese for those gross, calorie filled American Cheeseburgers.tightenupvolume1 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2019 10:59 pm Only about a quarter of the farmed palm oil is used for fuel.

It was these governments that talk about climate change who are the ones telling us we all need to stop producing it!
Years ago - you must buy diesel cars. Now - diesel cars are evil.
Years ago - palm oil is the future of fuel. Now - look, the destruction of our forests are devastating cute animals. You must stop it (by giving us money).

Can anyone explain to me, in terms a five year old would understand, the science behind carbon sequestration? That is, burying mature trees because reasons?
This concept seemed to rise and fade very quickly, and I never understood how it saves the planet. I understand how it suited political agendas and was a good vehicle for cleaning political money, but ... burying trees?
