This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. So how are you now andy?

So, no tumor but prostate? Didn't know this could develop so fast. Thought prostate problems develop slowly. I am a risk factor too.
How are they going to treat you? Trup?

Best luck!

I will be headed to USA in the next couple of months and would like to get some probable skin cancers checked out. I would rather avoid the expense and hassle of Bangkok. can anyone suggest a provincial center for this? Pattaya?

I am going for the operation tomorrow on the prostate. They are also going to clean out my bladder.

I would also like to know where in Thailand I could have follow up treatment. After my op I would like to travel back to Cambodia.

I m not a physician so not the right person for advice. But maybe some ideas are useful. Friend of mine got prostate cancer in Europe. He contacted a friend, professor of medicine, and got the right pointers. Important was, at least in his case, the most modern equipment. In his case 2-3 places qualified and he takes a 300 kms train ride for his treatment sessions. All going very well. Worst is for him to see the other patients who did not go to the screenings and are now in a hopeless condition.
Moral of the story would be to ask the British physicians if they have colleagues they know from conferences etc who could provide such info. Or they know someone who knows someone.

Obviously, Thaivisa forum will have more info on public hospitals than this forum. So there is another avenue which needs to be followed with caution.

My ex was a highly qualified nurse trained at the Phisanulok University hospital. That hospital is simply huge. A look on the map shows it is several hours north of BKK. Hotels etc are reasonable. City has very good and reasonably priced food options. It is a traffic hub for buses and even the slow train comes to town. From what I gathered, that is a disclaimer, I understand that aside from a place in BKK and maybe Chiang Mai, these are the public facilities that outmatch the private ones. Keep in mind that the late king was treated in a public hospital in Thonburi.

I m not British, I did read that NHS patients on waiting lists go to Thailand for treatment/operations. Perhaps there is qualified info on hospitals in Thailand available at the NHS.

FLB: If you are worried about skin cancer - take the next bus to Thailand and do not wait. The forum has few moderators and each loss would cause problems ;) Skin cancer can spread very fast and time matters. My mother went to a screening and they caught her cancer in time. She recovered fully, three weeks later it would have been fatal. So move your lazy butt.
