Hey English teacher out there
Re: Hey English teacher out there
Asian-English varies from each country. Cambodian doesn't sound like neither Vietnamese nor Thai and etc. Are you Irish? I always find it hard to understand when i speak with Irish, but i love the tone even though it seems really hard to comprehend what they were saying.Jamie_Lambo wrote:Asian-English is cute, im used to it and can decipher it pretty easy, tbh because of my northern english accent i have to talk with a broken english cambodian accent when im speaking english to a khmer haha although my khmer has improved loads over the past 5 months, its when khmer try typing khmer in english that becomes the problem, everything seems to look abbreviated because they just write how they think it sounds because theres no true romany english for cambodian i dont think, say like if a friend uploads a photo on fb the amount of different spellings is funny...Sa-art, Saart, Sart, Saat, Art nas haha
Typing khmer in English is the worth thing. I hate it. Sometime it took me so long to get what it mean. No surprise if you can't understand, since i am khmer still feel that it is not easy.

Re: Hey English teacher out there
haha corrected tbh i think cambodian english is far easier to understand than the likes of thai and viets because of their tonal language it makes it sound really bad, khmer-english is far clearer apart from the mentioned things, i also find some khmers find it hard to use the letter 'V' in words, my ex used to come out with "i Lub(love) you Mery(very) much" haha we was also laughing at my friend who was speaking to her boyfriend via skype and she said "call me tomorrow when you make up" and we was like "wake up... Wuuuhhh-ake up" she found it impossible hahahaSamouth wrote:Asian-English varies from each country. Cambodian doesn't sound like neither Vietnamese nor Thai and etc. Are you Irish? Samouth, think of the advantages, if no one can understand what you say when you are drunk, no one can remember the bad stuff, LOL
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right?
Re: Hey English teacher out there
I was completely sobered. I normally don't drink during the week. Perhaps, i have bad accent.vladimir wrote:Samouth, think of the advantages, if no one can understand what you say when you are drunk, no one can remember the bad stuff, LOL

I think Cambodians can learn foreign language easily as in our language, we have so many consonants and vowels.
I saw so many Cambodians who went to international school in phnom penh and have the best accent almost close to native speaker. I am so so proud of them and wish i could speak that good.
For funny English translation and writing mistakes in Cambodia, please go to OIC (only in Cambodia). Many funny pictures posted there.

i'm a firm believer that in order to get better you must learn from your mistakes, if no one points out mistakes then you will learn a lot slower, your brain runs on auto-pilot, and until you point out something to your brain it wont recognise it as a mistake, the way i learn khmer is by listening to my friends speak khmer and listening to khmer songs, and ill listen until a word stands out in my brain and i want to know what that word means, so i then ask my friends the meaning, so then whenever i hear that word again its automatically programmed into my brain and i understand without even having to think, i speak more khmer than i can german and i studied that at school for 3 years haha

I also believe that people can learn from their mistakes. No one is perfect, however i can't help myself. I always feel bad when i make mistake.Jamie_Lambo wrote:i'm a firm believer that in order to get better you must learn from your mistakes, if no one points out mistakes then you will learn a lot slower, your brain runs on auto-pilot, and until you point out something to your brain it wont recognise it as a mistake, the way i learn khmer is by listening to my friends speak khmer and listening to khmer songs, and ill listen until a word stands out in my brain and i want to know what that word means, so i then ask my friends the meaning, so then whenever i hear that word again its automatically programmed into my brain and i understand without even having to think, i speak more khmer than i can german and i studied that at school for 3 years haha
