Or is it just a question of money - that these jails are hell for the completely broke ? Hospitals are bad enough if you don't have someone to help you out and bring you food, or the money to pay someone.

It took a while, relatively speaking, to read this thread from beginning to end. And then the thread dies, and Lance stays in prison. Perhaps he'll be referenced in another thread at another time when someone else is arrested. But that kid will still still be rotting inside, probably long after I'm dead and forgotten.

I still, for the life of me, cannot imagine selling drugs in Thailand (or Malaysia where I used to live). You would have to be fucking insane to ignore the real risks (like, say, a 50-year sentence).

In the end, as a dad, I totally place responsibility on his father for murdering his son's future. It's a sad, unnecessary outcome.

What do you say, dad? Any comment? Do you feel responsible for the situation you put your son in? Do you feel like you protected your only child's future? Corrupt cop? Pimp? Not enough to fuck your life up and the country you are allowed to reside in. Did you have to drag your son into your pile-of-shit life and flush his future away? If I was half as responsible as you are for ruining one of my children, seriously, I would have vertically slit my wrists yesterday.

To the mom: my deepest and most sincere apologies for what your ex has done to your lives. I don't know how you will ever find solace, but I pray you do.

His mother has said she hopes for 3 and the lawyers hope for 4, before he's allowed to request repatriation to serve his remaining sentence in a UK jail.....however long that is.

That sort of time frame implies that there will be no appeal as that would stop the clock.

Presumably they will use what money they have to support him while he's in there - where it's reported that he has found Jesus.
