Help Mick Recover Back to Health

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Help Mick Recover Back to Health

Post by PSD-Kiwi »

As some of you may be aware, our beloved Mick has suffered a very unfortunate accident, which has resulted in a whole range of complications, that may require surgery. He fell from a very small height, cracking a rib, that misfortunately happened to puncture his lung, resulting in a massive surge of air and fluid through his whole body. The main concern at the moment is the air that remains trapped surrounding his heart. He currently has two catheters draining his chest cavity near his lungs on both sides, and is undergoing more CT scans to determine how and why the air is still remaining. They are discussing non invasive procedures and are currently still investigating the concerns surrounding his heart.

He is currently in the Phnom Penh hospital, Cambodia, with Bren by his side. They have been there since the 21st of May, undergoing a range of scans, treatments and protocols. So far, for the treatment he has been given, and the upcoming procedures, the total cost rests at $7800USD, with no doubt other expenses to ensue.
This is an extremely difficult time that really does not need to be compounded by the stress of expenses. If any of you are in any position to lend any support towards this, Mick, Brenda and Indi will be eternally grateful and humbled. Any amount, if you are in any position to be able to, is highly appreciated, and although the total bill is not currently known, every little bit will help.

The three of them have taken up a beautiful life in the south of Cambodia, and have started up a very touching project to help others in need. They are building a retreat for veterans and service men and women from all countries to provide a place of serenity. Mick served 20 years in the Australian Army and as a result has suffered from war symptoms since. His ability to find peace in Cambodia has driven them to build a place for others who share a connection, comradery, respect and understanding. They welcome meeting others who have also served and those who have played such a vital role in communities such as nurses, doctors, paramedics, fire fighters.

Please help us reach the target so we can  help get Mick back to his beautiful girls, and back to following their dream.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, big hugs to all of them, we love you!! Mountain View Veterans Retreat

this guy is really onto something.
seems to have rented some land in Kep ( cant buy as he is a Barang) and is getting people to volunteer with him to help him develop the land and build bungalows
We will soon be releasing information about the opportunity for veterans and service personnel to come to Cambodia and volunteer some time with us from March 2017 to help us achieve our dream of providing a place of serenity, understanding and friendship.
Wow< amazing

I don't know him personally, but I think what he's doing is a great idea. Hopefully he recovers quickly without any negative long term effects.

I will say what I always say when I read these 'go fund me' type appeals for people who got injured in a foreign country though...insurance!

Can't be arsed to look into this but on first glance it seems a lot more legit than your typical 'come help me marketing sham targeting millenials bs'

I thought he had insurance through his veterans insurance which he thought would cover him and it isn't.

Anyway, hope he recovers. Heard many good things and him.
