This poll is for keeping track on expats IN CAMBODIA who may have had a shot. It is not for anyone outside the country, so please don't go voting and telling us about your experience anywhere else.

I expect it to be nothing but "No" votes at the moment but the poll is set up to allow for re-voting. If and when you get a jab, you can update and tell the rest of us how you managed to get it (as much as you can without outing yourself).

Let's see how long it takes for an ordinary expat, unconnected with anyone it authority, to get a shot.

If you paid to 'fix' things, share that too. Plenty on here prepared to grease those wheels.

I know of four barangs who have had the vaccine.
Two got in on a VIP invite at NPH. This was AZ.
One got it by digging his heels in at a suburban clinic and basically risking arrest.
One got Sinovac at NPH by showing work documents. He was initially refused but luckily got invited back in.

I would have voted for the "Won't take a vaccine just yet", but it's not an option

I'd consider myself in the 'at lower risk' category as far as COVID goes - the right side of 50, in good shape physically, no smoking, drinking, obesity, prior lung issues, etc etc. So whilst I would get the vaccine, it is far important that those at risk get it first. As we've seen in the west, the older folks should be first along with the other vulnerable segments - then gradually work the way down through to the young.

I won't be pushing myself on any vaccination list ahead of those who really should have it first any time soon, until there's what, 50% of the population vaccinated or thereabouts (let's say 6-7m), and then I'd be ready to assume it's my turn & I'm not being a selfish sod. I do believe in vaccination, I don't believe in the hysteria I've seen in men half my age. Get the old & vulnerable done first, set up a small band on the top deck & crack out "Nearer, My God, to Thee" & have a G&T.

Probably because if they remain unvaccinated, they won't be Cambodia expats for long.

I foresee vaccination being a requirement for visa extension.

My wife and I have actually discussed this. We've decided we won't take the Chinese vaccine simply because they haven't published any of the Phase III data and simply don't trust that they wouldn't lie about potential side effects or continue to study longer term effect.

Our preference is to wait until the J&J shot is available. We're hoping that perhaps the Bangkok hospital group would acquire it and we'd be willing to pay to receive it. Same would be true for the Pfizer vaccine (which is two shots).

If getting my yearly extension become dependent on getting a vaccine, then we've begun discussing our options (of course not knowing exactly what the requirement is). If you have to get a shot here in Cambodia administered through the government and they won't accept a vaccine administered elsewhere then we have some tough decisions to make. If they would accept a vaccine administered in a foreign country (ie the J&J shot administered in the USA), then for one year we might decide for me to make a quick trip to get the shot.

It will be interesting to see what countries decide on regard to Covid. I can remember getting a yellow fever shot and certificate to facilitate business travel in Africa many years ago. Same might be true for Covid only worldwide. And then the arguments will start around what is an acceptable vaccine and form of proof. If I recall correctly, my yellow fever certificate was nothing more than a yellow folded piece of printed cardboard signed and dated by a doctor stating I had received the vaccine and that it was good for 10? years.
