Have you given in to Tiger Balm yet?

Post by Sir_Quality_U_Feel » Thu Aug 28, 2014 9:12 pm

Tiger Balm seems to solve everything from a headache to a gun shot wound in Asia. I never used the stuff, although, Menthol type salves are not uncommon in the west, just not as used and believed in as Tiger Balm and the few variants. I know we use that red Siang Pure with an old Asian man on the label, not the actual Tiger Balm. Same stuff.

My girl uses it for headache, stomach cramps, cold, fever, joint pain. If I came in with a gaping head wound, I am sure she would try to wipe some tiger balm into it. Acid into the eyes, fuck, try some Tiger Balm.

I have actually started to use it more than I would have back home since I moved to Asia. It does work for keeping the nose clear plus a few sniffs wakes me up in the morning so I can stumble to the shower.

What about you guys, have you given into the magical powers of Tiger Balm type salves?
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

Some sadistic bastard suggested I try it on hemorrhoids - just the mention of it made the little buggers pull their heads in.

We use it often for joint pain and it seems to work as well as anything more Western (i.e. expensive).

I've heard it raises the dead, so god forbid the mother in law (any MIL) croaks it, whatever you do, don't be carrying no jar of Tiger Balm to the funeral. Not worth the risk.

Haha! Funny stuff. Yeah, it is expensive here by Khmer standards. I had some from the market in Siem Reap. It had the Eagle on it, yellow. Eagle Balm I spose'. Loved the stuff. I have a cold now, using a lot of the stuff.

After 1 time of not washing your hands after applying and touching your eyes, you learn. Apply, run to sink and wash hands. :o

Try washing your hands three times and thinking you've got the last of it, and then rubbing your jewel bag. That'll wake you up.

its just like icy hot in the west.
i use it for soreness.
i also use it for stuffy nose, and it seems to work to relieve mosquito bite itchiness.
to be honest, i just like the smell.
in america, the monkey version seems to be more popular.

I frowned at people using it my first time here. But I started using myself later for mosquito bites, scratches etc. It's quick remedy.
