Have you ever seen Cambodian backpackers?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

yep!
and they stink.
Not all of them Frank Lee Bent, for the last two weeks, i have been backpacking in Malaysia and Singapore. I stayed in a backpacker place in Malaysia where smoking is not allowed. Drinking is allowed, but you only can't drink at the breakfast area. No food and drink are allowed in the dorm room. BTW, i met many non-drinking and smoking backpackers and they are all educated.

I think on this board, maybe only Richar is the former backpacking hippie.
Nah, that's impossible. American hippies always stay at home. or maybe Guatemala sometimes.

I think I may have seen a few.

They are the ill clothed, unwashed people with dreadlocks one sees at the approaches to bridges, yes?
Hairstyle seems to be mandatory dress of the day.

Otherwise, I would have thought them insane.

Yes, insane men and women with longish hair generally do have a good set of dreads. Well noticed.

Ah, so the only thing which sets the foreign ones apart is the possession of Mummy's bank card.
I see now.

I actually have seen a Cambodian backpacker ! MEEE !!
As myself - I am one when I travel, with a backpack and all!
although I was born and raised in Australia of the 24 years of my existence, the locals don't regard me as a Cambodian, nor say I look like one even though both parents are Khmer. Yet i speak the language ..... but treatment is very different towards me I guess..

Catch you when I'm back there again backpacking ! :D

if both parents are khmer and you speak khmer why dont the locals regard you as cambodian?
i mean, how would they know the difference that you grew up overseas?
