Have you ever been called "Ah" in Khmer?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

My friend just brought a new Lexus and when applying for his registration did not want the number 4 on the plate as it's bad luck so he changed it for a new one. The new one has 23 on it so I said it is lucky, unfortunately it starts 2 AH....when I saw it I laughed too much, I think he was like...fuck.....had to share this tale.

Yes, I have been called"abarang"-but never in my village where respect is mutual. It happens mostly in Phnom Penh when I am in.the company of my Cambodian wife. I used to solve the problem violently, but there are too many racists and I'm getting too old for vengeance. Now I simply accept that the country is loaded with un-educated yard apes who are irrelevant to my happiness.

Highly unlikely that a stranger would call you "Ah" anything. Unless you really pissed them off.

You could possibly counter with "Ah Ch'gai" or "Ah Ch'guot". But just to be on the safe side, be sure you're wearing your Fight Club t-shirt.
