I have some serious questions about this place

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Most of the Cambodians living in Cambodia had to endure not just the war, but also the post-war fighting and betrayals, the guerilla war, Vietnamese occupation, UNTAC chaos, etc., and aren't so keen to talk.
Not true, 70% of the population is under 35. Besides that, if you know older people they don't generally have a problem talking about anything like that. I'm don't see how you'd know anyway, having barely been here and spending most of your time with hooker girlfriends ripping you off blind.
You may want to look the communities of Long Beach, California, and Lowell, Massachusetts. The Cambodians there are mostly refugees from the war and did not face the continuous chaos afterwards.
They moved to a very foreign culture where they couldn't speak the language, most had very poor education and many ended up in public housing projects on welfare. They tend to be much more affected by events than those who stayed.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
