We have a New Addition to the CEO Mod Team!!!

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

We have a New Addition to the CEO Mod Team!!!

Post by General Mackevili »

I just wanted to give a big THANKS to ClutchCargo for joining us on the CEO Mod Team!

Woohoo!! Two more hands on deck will help out the Cambodia community a great deal, as seen recently when we've been flooded with nonsense that we were a bit too slow to address as it was happening. He's been a great contributing member for over a year now, and he will now take on some actual work!! Besides just knowing him here in our online community, I've met him in Phnom Penh, and he's very level headed and a straight-up good guy to have with us. You can see that he's not one to easily get dragged into a mud-slinging contest or get baited into a flame war, which is always important when having the authority to make modding decisions that will get one or the other party upset more often than not.

As some already know, all of us on the Mod Team have executive power to decide on and make the modding decision they see fit based on guidelines that we all agree on, and he has us convinced he knows how things work on here and will help steer us in the right direction. We don't have a long list of rules that you have to memorize, and I'd say it's just commonsense stuff, but I'll probably list a few below, just as a reminder.

So now we have Username Taken, Jamie Lambo, ClutchCargo and myself that will be doing the often thankless task of keeping everyone in check and doing the heavy lifting behind the scenes that keeps an online community/website going strong and growing!

And while we're giving ClutchCargo a promotion, I'd also like to say thanks to all our great members, because without you all, it would just be a blog, lol. You guys are the reason we do it, and without your participation and the feedback we get from you all, CEO wouldn't be thriving like it is. I can't stress enough how much your reports and PMs help keep us going in the right direction, and taking out the trash that doesn't belong on here. When you report a post/topic, it sends all of us an alert with a link to check it out. And if something doesn't belong on here, the sooner we get to it the better we can handle it properly to nip it in the bud.

So again, thanks to the CEO Mod Team, and now to ClutchCargo for stepping up to the plate and joining us! And of course, a special thanks to our CEO News Team and all of you as well for the valuable contributions and feedback. And another special thanks to Frank Lee Bent as well, a retired Mod who helped out tremendously over the years!!

And just to make things a bit more clear, please be a bit extra nice to new members with less than 20 posts, as takes a little bit of time for anyone to join a new community, and cutting newbies a bit more slack than normal will greatly help us grow and attract new members. Also, direct attacks on fellow members, even when you completely disagree with them, is never helpful, and we will be more active in deleting such posts, as they serve no purpose in discussions. Addressing the point you disagree with is fine, but no need to name call/attack the member. And if you really don't think it should have been posted, simply click the 'report' button so we can look at it and determine what to do. It's also important to understand that we sometimes get dozens of reports a day, and don't be discouraged if we don't decide to take the exact same action as you were hoping for, because that feedback is still greatly appreciated and useful. With the 'report' function you also have the ability to add a personal note, and even receive a notification when we address it. And beyond that, you are always welcome to PM any of us directly and talk about any feedback privately.

Thanks again to all of you! :hattip:

Oh, I was just making fun of the fact that Gonk spelled his new moderator's username wrong on every single mention in his new mod announcement. There is no such user as ClutchCargo.

@clutchcargo

Congrats! Someone in here is now plotting to do something out-of-hand... but it's not me!

Fair enough on this appointment, but just remember dear General - You yourself are only here on OUR sufferance;

The first rule of pirate code reads,
“Every man has a vote in affairs of moment,” securing, at the start, a man’s right to participate in the selection of the captain.
The crew retained the right to depose their leader if they so chose.
The Pirate Council (the term used to referred to the members of the pirate crew) had the option of deposing any captain they deemed to be abusive or of exceptionally poor judgment. As one Dutch governor pointed out, “Every man has as much say as the captain.”

(but this is the best bit- )
The crew, rather than the captain, maintained the authority to determine where a voyage was headed, and whether to attack a particular ship or village.
