HAVE to have travel insurance or not ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Dont forget the other health risks out there..basic travel insurance is a must IMHO. Sure better than having someone run a gofund.me project after something serious has happened to you. Better safe than sorry.
work is for people who cant find truffles

The mandatory Forte COVID-19 Insurance Policy requirement was suspended in November 2021. As others have already stated, would be irresponsible not to have travel Medical insurance though

when I was young and reckless I took the risk not to buy travel insurance, now I need it, it's a lot more expensive, but I have to agree too; get insured

Sorry if daft question/already answered, so is it OK to enter without having any travel insurance? We have colleagues from Vietnam who are just flying in for literally a couple of days

Travel insurance is a great idea for every visitor. Be sure to use online price comparison sites.

The Forte policy only ever covered the cost of treatment for Covid in a government treatment centre so could not be considered a proper Covid policy, let alone proper travel insurance. It's also expensive for the coverage that you get.

Medical insurance is a great idea for expats up to 60 if they don't have pre-existing conditions. For others, it may best to self-insure if you have funds as the premiums are high and the exclusions are wide. It would be great if there was a trauma-only medical policy for older expats but there isn't.
