This is a part of our Cambodia forums to chat about anything Cambodia-related. This discussion forum is at the top of our site because it's usually the busiest part of the expat community chatter with random topics on just about everything, including expat life, Khmer politics, Cambodian blogs we have or have come across, or whatever else our members want to discuss. Whether you're an expatriate, tourist, Cambodian or random traveler just passing through South East Asia, you are welcome to talk about anything or start new topics yourselves.
Yes it has. It is a fantastic time to travel, just like during SARS. Planes are running 1/3 to 1/2 full so you can sit whenever you want no matter what your boarding pass says. No obnoxious hoards of tourists. Hotels practically empty and lowering rates. Travel now, people and hope this Covid19 scare lasts a while!
Yesterday, I overheard a woman, who works in a hotel restaurant where I'm staying, saying to a customer that she had been to China for New Year. I wondered if I should be concerned, but then I thought, well, she is one of (tens of ?) thousands who have returned to Cambodia from China recently, and if she's infected then the virus has probably already spread beyond her. I will not approach her closely, and in any case, I don't usually embrace the staff, so why start now.
I also think that this is a sign that I should smoke less, but hey. (Go UT, and all those who have given up recently.) However, everyone knows that alcohol kills germs.
