Has ceo turned into only headlines/violent news

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

On a positive note, there were 7 threads that didn't deal with death or rape. ;)

I've been noticing a very high amount of CEO news stories dealing with local violent crimes for a few weeks now. Maybe someone is trying to warn us ?
Or perhaps in competition with TOF.

being a pessimist
i am seldom disappointed

OK:

positive;

drove into Cambodia via Hat Lek on the 7th , ONLY paid my $30 for my visa

spent 5 days in Kep and loved it, peaceful, no loud music, no bars, no crazy kids on motorbikes, plenty of samui style bungalows ( ie 8-15 bungalow set in a nice garden with a swimming pool) $30=-70/night, ( but a bit out of town) cheap GH $5-15/night
nice small man made beach, nice islands off shore, mountains, monkeys
Great seafood ( but choose ur restaurant carefully as as there way overpriced) cook at home.
Great road from the border all the way ( but Khmer drivers/bikers are the worst in SE asia)

Negative,
Kep has NO MINI marts, no grocery stores, no houses/apts for rent, hardly any shops at all. ( for me a positive for others perhaps negative) nothing to do at night expect read, surf the net and.....

drive thru shv, got stopped within 1 minute on ekareach and fined $10, stopped again 2 minutes later
Dozens of empty hotels/casinos ( seems the Chinese left )
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Is this a tax for thai tourists ? What could cost $10 ? No helmet? (No further comment, but you know...)Don't you read the forums here ? Max fine is 5000r,or up to $2 at worst. The rest is tourist tax.

Back to OP:
Has ceo turned into only headlines/violent news?
Only in the Cambodian news forum, elsewhere it tends to be sex, guns and stupid stuff. In General Chatter, there's only the Paris bombings and your own thread talking about violence right now. You also started and posted the "obscene photo with a pile of dead children" thread. So where's the problem? :stir:

Shhhhhhh.... I'm hoping if we post enough brutal news stories that we can scare away most of the tourists...
