Happy Planet Index

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Post by CJM555 »

Cambodia achieves a Happy Planet Index Score of 40.3 and ranks #85 of all the countries analysed.

Cambodia's HPI score reflects a 'middling' life expectancy, low levels of experienced well-being, and a low ecological footprint.

Other statistics;
GDP per capita ($PPP): 2,194 (less than 5% of the USA's)
Population: 14.1 million (#67 of 151)
Land area (square km): 177 thousand (#83 of 151)
Population density (people per square km): 80.1 (#72 of 151)
Governance Ranking (WGI): #115

I'm happy.

GM can enjoy at least one of the top cuisines on this planet.
its an awesome, tasty food - what would also be considered very "healthy" by the majority of world population.
fresh and delicious.
also, dishes from all over the world are easily found.

whatever 'differences' the expat may find with the local population, in terms of views, heritage, religion, they are - bottomline - very smart people.

you can talk to them. they share their views. and moreover and compared to thailand or cambodia - they DO HAVE views. on everything. they know, what is happening in the world, what others may think and do.
whereever you go, they have to tell some story about their village, their lifes, and the rest of the world.

there is an interesting world out there. perhaps just not here.

Maybe it is, but just isn't aware of the fact.
