Wonder what Chinese social media is saying about the town. A lot of Chinese tourists must also be put off with the crumbling roads, uncollected garbage, dirty beaches, and unreliable power/water.
Take away the Casinos, and you'd have to ask why would any Chinese tourists come here. Better beach destinations elsewhere, and they can gamble online anyway.

no where else in the world where u can get a casino license for $400K, without even having to look if the applicant hv operated a casino b4, in another countries there would be like tons of permits to apply, basically its just ease of doing their "business" here, they dont give a shit abt electric outages, uncollected garbage, crappy roads, they workers hv to put up with the shitz, not the bosses

with mentality like these, how long do u think it will last? as long as KoW greedy continues to let them do so or central committee think enough is enough, unaccounted money shld stay and remain
in china, so far as they r concern, this is just another pump and dump town, dropping a few millions is nothing to them, when they can 100K a day easy, KoW knows it, chinks knows it, it is just grab grab grab as much as fast as u can, and the rest just whine whine whine

There's still a bit of life in Otres but town has been bulldozed flat. The road up from the village past the ponds has a lot of bars from before. Some of the old beach bars have reopened on LV street going down to Omui, like Beachy, think Martini's is reopening soon. Pretty sure Stumble or one of them was going that way, too. Water and electricity outages are a real drag and the few cheap hotel places catering to Westerners are full to the brim with refugee ex-pats. My mate tried to get a room in the Korean place by the peer and they were full of the recently homeless.

i was in otres yesterday and the village is still there.wot u talking about.

Some Malaysians tenants of mine came back after spending a year in Vietnam. That makes them par with Russians for expats in our building unrepresentative census.
I hear Oga bar is doing great with ASEAN gay expats and visitors mostly from Malaysia and Singapore.
Also and only to confirm the obvious, all but one western bottom feeder acquaintances of mine have now left town for Kampot.
