Going moto shopping Sun 10/12 and Mon 10/13,ask me anything.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Going moto shopping Sun 10/12 and Mon 10/13,ask me anything.

Post by AE86 »

I know a lot of people have migrated here from K440, so I wanted to post here and there as well.

I'm going moto shopping and am hitting up most of the importers and dealers soon, so any questions in the meantime and I'll be on the lookout for anything people want to know. I'll be going to a bunch of the old shops I knew as well for parts so any parts questions, feel free to ask away.

i.e. What costs what?
Opinions on a specific model
Anything really, related to bikes...

Any bike price questions or info you want to know, I'll do my best to keep an eye/ear open. I've been reading up on newer models as well so I should be competent enough to answer on the 2015 models too if anyone is interested.

Sorry, short notice, but I'm on a tight schedule so it's all I can offer for help.

Akira, you really are an awesomely helpful and unselfish guy. Not just now, but over recent years.
And yet, I notice that no-one has given you any Karma yet. (I'll fix that -- 5 Karma coming your way).

I just wish I needed info about bikes.

I've always wondered what the most Camboda proof bike there is there. Like the Camry...dominant, tons of parts, all mechanics should know them.
Is it possible that a Daelem properly maintained could be in the running? I ain't talking high end stuff. Or oddball stuff. Bikes that are commonly found there. The Wave sticks out as a popular bike, and any Honda should be in the list, hell, lotta super cubs I see lookin pretty good. A wish bike for me would be a CZ or an old Honda cb 350. I'm thinkin the model T, ford pickup type bike.

and I'm thinkin as in used.

Hold their value

Sorry, Digi internet has been down 4 straight days so I had the family sign up with Metfone.

Anyway, most common bike would actually be anything "basic" Honda or Suzuki. 110 Suzukis and Hondas have parts everywhere for them. Think Wave, Dream, Daelim, Cub, Viva, Smash, Revo, Axelo, etc. Daelims are all based on the Honda engines so they use the same parts as Waves and theoretically that means you can get a brand new OEM Daelim because all parts are available new from the dealer.

Only reason I'd advise against a Dream 125 is because it's expensive (relatively), low tech, and very theft prone. Wave 125s too because of their engine (same as the Dream). Wave 100s and 110s, not so much, same for Suzukis.
