Getting tense over tense...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Actually, fist is both a verb AND a noun...

Semantics about what i called the thing aside, the point I was seeking advice on is how to actually fix the usage problem with it?
Total and utter nonsense.

Try to teach English to a Japanese......basically impossible. I would suggest to be patient with your wife....sooner or later she is going to understand (and if not....so be it....you can't force it).
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

Well, if it is total and utter nonsense at least you should show OD a solution that works for his specific problem.
Und der Haifisch der hat Tränen
Und die laufen vom Gesicht
Doch der Haifisch lebt im Wasser
So die Tränen sieht man nicht

In der Tiefe ist es einsam
Und so manche Träne fliesst
Und so kommt es dass das Wasser
In den Meeren salzig ist

P.S.: Just hope that she's (language-wise)already above that "kitchen" and "chicken" thing. Years ago I had a short romance with a Cambodian girl and she came down shouting "the chicken is burning", which didn't bother me because there was indeed a chicken in the oven. What she actually meant was that "the kitchen is on fire" because she left the chicken unattended. After that little experience I decided to separate from that chick. :beer3:
Hey, I have the chicken/kitchen problem too - didn't realise that it was a recognized language problem ? Gets confusing sometimes - "the chicken is full of gas ???" Boom ! Whoops.
