Foreigner Buys Land in His Cambodian Wife's Name In Siem Reap; Loses Everything

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

That's right. I hope Jester hasn't gone and bought anything yet. :?

What an idiot.
I couldn’t bother to read the 5 pages as I am gonna translate the story to my better half before calling it a night.
You don’t marry your wife but your in-laws, period.

All generalizations are false, but in general, no. However, Chinese culture is not as accepting of interracial/foreigner marriage as are SE Asia cultures... where it can be seen as perfectly acceptable to 'work'/snag a foreigner husband... and 'take him to the cleaners'.

Every bald, fat, middle-aged+ 'white guy' should do a reality check and ask himself exactly why an attractive 20-something SE Asian woman has fallen in love with him. Unfortunately, self delusion is all pervasive. Every single one of them believes "My woman and relationship is different". Ninety-nine point nine percent of the time, it's not.
Sorry I did not make my question too clear. Can the Chinese own outright in Cambodia?
Give it a few years and they will own Cambodia outright.
Yes they will end up owning Cambodia outright, especially when Chinese real estate developers buy citizenship and become government officials.

Technically it’s still a Cambodian citizen who owns the land.
I believe Chinese can’t own land in China. All state land.
Don’t listen to Chinese whispers.
