Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. For what it's worth , I have two properties in Cambodia with a total value of well over half a mil in someone else's name with no agreements between us. Do I trust her,,, No , but she is the mother [ not my wife or girlfriend ] of the four kids I have accept as my family . At 70 years of age one must accept that one day you will die and you cannot take all you own with you to the grave.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

All generalizations are false, but in general, no. However, Chinese culture is not as accepting of interracial/foreigner marriage as are SE Asia cultures... where it can be seen as perfectly acceptable to 'work'/snag a foreigner husband... and 'take him to the cleaners'.

Every bald, fat, middle-aged+ 'white guy' should do a reality check and ask himself exactly why an attractive 20-something SE Asian woman has fallen in love with him. Unfortunately, self delusion is all pervasive. Every single one of them believes "My woman and relationship is different". Ninety-nine point nine percent of the time, it's not.

Sorry I did not make my question too clear. Can the Chinese own outright in Cambodia?

Give it a few years and they will own Cambodia outright.

Of course the Sino Khmers can, but strictly speaking mainlanders can't. There are ways around this though and it's not all that difficult anyway to form a company and get a 99 year lease. :assasin:

I've been told areas of Pheah Sihanouk have been designated 'special economic zones' where Chinese (no other nationality) can actually own land. This would explain a lot.

In the SEZ which are almost exclusively destined to build factories. Some are to be found all around the country even if SHV's main one is probably the most successful and is rapidly becoming a sizeable city by itself.

I looked into it more and it seems Chinese billionaires (probably others too) can get land titles and build 'sweat shop' factories exploiting cheap Khmer labour (as Chinese labour has become too expensive to be economically feasible)... to satisfy the American demand for cheap clothing/shoes.

It's Kathie Lee Gifford's fault.

tbf, it's pretty common practice for westerners - especially Americans - to have pre-nuptial agreements to protect their assets in the event of divorce.

One could say that that indicates a negative expectation too.

The idea that only some Asians/SE Asian women are devious is a joke.

I've met many yanks and other westerners here who have a real hatred for divorce courts in their home country, and justly so in most cases
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
