Foreign Man Saves a Dog from a Dog Meat Shop in Cambodia
According to social media, an unidentified foreign man saved a dog from a dog meat shop. He bought the dog from the shop before it was killed, and so saved its life.
However, there will be another not-so-lucky dog to take its place.

Re: Foreign Man Saves a Dog from a Dog Meat Shop
Thought I recognised the guy in the photos. He's a French guy who lives in Thailand and rescues dogs.
This is a bit of a crazy story. In Cambodia, a family dog was taken away to a dog-meat shop to pay off a gambling debt. However, the kids were heart-broken, so this French guy got called in from Thailand to come and save their pet. He's saved it, but it's getting sent overseas (to safety) so the kids will never see it again anyway. I'm sure his intentions are good, but I'm not quite sure what I think about the whole set-up.
The story was posted on social media, and has made the rounds to the UK tabloids.
Saved from the meat market: Pooch is rescued from Cambodian slaughterhouse moments before it was due to be chopped up for food

A pet dog snatched to settle a family debt has been rescued from a Cambodian slaughterhouse moments before it was due to be chopped up for food.
The slaughterhouse owner took mongrel Noun after her owner borrowed £2,600 to pay off gambling debts.
Noun's family contacted animal activist Michael Chor, who runs charity The Sounds of Animals, to help save Noun before she was killed and eaten.
He travelled from Thailand to Cambodia and found Noun chained to a fence and bound inside a plastic bag in the slaughterhouse.
Mr Chor was able to raise the cash needed to free Noun, whose name means 'sit under the sun', in just 24 hours after his followers made donations.
But Mr Chor returned to the market hours later to find hundreds of the dogs Noun was caged among had been slaughtered - chilling proof of the fate she escaped.
He captured horrifying videos and pictures that show the remains of the skinned, butchered and boiled animals being peddled to customers.
But Noun has now made a full recovery and is set to be adopted somewhere far from Cambodia. She will then cross the border to Thailand, where she will be cared for at the Blue Dream Shelter, managed by the Sound of Animals, before being rehomed in the UK or US.
Mr Chor, a former doctor, said: 'Noun was a family pet and was very much loved by the children in the family,'

Re: Foreign Man Saves a Dog from a Dog Meat Shop
This guy claims he paid $3400 USD to a dog butcher, not to buy a dog but to "bail and then keep" the dog. He's facing some pretty tough questions in social media right now, which he's refusing to answer, but his minions are going on long rants against those who do this legitimately in Cambodia (like Animal Mama) and then hastily deleting their posts when challenged with facts.
The Sounds of Animals is copping a right hiding regarding it's legitimacy as an animal welfare agency, and refusing to answer questions about how it's donations are actually used. One of the big questions being asked is why he needs to come to Cambodia to rescue meat dogs when there are millions of dogs in Thailand that need welfare, and how is it that he's always able to show dramatic "rescue" photos that are like, totally not staged.
No doubt his minions will follow me here and hotly deny that this guy is an absolute scammer - feel free, but know that I kept the Facebook screenshots of the posts you later removed. Also, threats of legal action are not only meaningless in this situation, they're pretty funny.

Incidentally, the "sending it overseas" is a recent plot twist - perhaps to give an appearance that money being raised it being spent quite dramatically.

Re: Foreign Man Saves a Dog from a Dog Meat Shop
Considering dog meat doesn't go for that much money and that he shelled out thousands to rescue the dog, I question the entire story. Paying off gambling debts is beyond his purview as a dog rescue NGO or whatever. Something off here.

There are many things off here, and the passion with which his supporters came out swinging (when he was politely questioned) and then the speed at which they suddenly removed their posts from social media once the story started main-streaming both scream "SCAM!"Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 4:56 pm Considering dog meat doesn't go for that much money and that he shelled out thousands to rescue the dog, I question the entire story. Thank you. I also don't see how this dog covered that much debt?Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Tue Sep 18, 2018 4:56 pm Considering dog meat doesn't go for that much money and that he shelled out thousands to rescue the dog, I question the entire story. Add in costs for whisking away the dog to safety OUTSIDE Cambodia....ya...um...legally that would take a bunch of cash and if he did it illegally...well...ya.
