Re: Foreign Man Saves a Dog from a Dog Meat Shop in Cambodia
Here he is again. Does he take the Cambodian dogs that he saves, back to Thailand with him ?
Man saved dog from a slaughterhouse in Cambodia and she can’t stop giving him hugs
29 December 2018
There is a fine line that is drawn between the kinds of animals that can be breed for consumption and the kinds that cannot. Although this distinction is arbitrary most of us can agree that the thought of slaughtering dogs, which are man’s best friend, is simply appalling.
With this being said, there are many countries where dog meat is considered alright for consumption. Michael Chour founded The Sound of Animals over a decade ago when he traveled to Buriram, Thailand during which time the dog meat trade was still legal.
He made it his mission to fight the trade and so he became an advocate for the fight against dog consumption.
Recently when he was in Cambodia he came across a slaughterhouse filled with dogs in cages and he decided he had to do something in order to free these pups.
Chour spoke to the owner of the facility at length and came to an agreement with which he’d let 17 dogs go. One of which got so attached to Chour for saving her life, she couldn’t stop giving him hugs!

Dogs rescued from Asia in need of forever homes
Colleen Smith Sun Aug 4th, 2019 1:30amLife
For Tracy Harachi, a desire to help elephants in Asia led to another passion: rescuing dogs.
Since 2014, she and her husband Nathan Yoffa have volunteered at the Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand every year. The 150-acre sanctuary is home to 500 dogs and more than 40 elephants. Over the past five years, the Orcas Island couple has adopted their own dogs (and cats) from the sanctuary and transported dozens to the United States.
“I’ve been flight volunteer for over 25 dogs from the Elephant Nature Park to help them get to their forever homes,” said Harachi, who is a professor at the University of Washington and travels to Cambodia, which borders Thailand, for social work. “Some have overnighted with me in Seattle, and then I’ve gotten them to their cargo flight to fly on to their final destination.”
Harachi partners with a woman in Portland, who has also volunteered at the elephant sanctuary. She helps finds foster families and adoptive parents for the animals, some of whom have physical handicaps and behavioral issues.
Harachi and Yaffa currently have a Cambodian street cat named Takeshi and dogs SeeKao and Boon Ngaam, who were both paraplegic. Through medical procedures, physical therapy and a lot of dedication, they both can walk, although Boon Ngaam still uses an underwater treadmill to develop the connection between her brain and legs.

Re: Foreign Man Saves a Dog from a Dog Meat Shop in Cambodia
This is another symptom that the world is totally fucked. There are people who come over here for a while, look around, and then decide that saving feral cats and dogs is the answer. I wouldn't even mind if they were interested in saving wildlife, but no, they want to save Felis Catus and Canis lupus familiaris. They spend thousands of dollars on vet-fees and flights to bring these animals to western countries. I'm not sure what the regulations are in other countries, but to bring an animal like that to a rabies-free country like mine would require that the animal stays at least 6 months in quarantine. That means a small isolated cage. That's just plain cruelty. These people need to get their heads out of their asses, but then again pictures of sad kittens on garbage dumps = loads of likes and funding. Never mind that those diseased cats are breeding like flies and have eaten every bird within 500 meters.“I’ve been flight volunteer for over 25 dogs from the Elephant Nature Park to help them get to their forever homes,” said Harachi, who is a professor at the University of Washington and travels to Cambodia, which borders Thailand, for social work. “Some have overnighted with me in Seattle, and then I’ve gotten them to their cargo flight to fly on to their final destination.”
Actually, speaking of meters:
Silence, exile, and cunning.
