Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! Seen it. Pretty good, Forest Whitaker is good.

Wasn't sure about his stance whilst he was protecting his shoulder. Looked a bit cheesy but then I'm no boxer so don't know.

Southpaw is worth a watch, but not fussed about watching it again, rather wack a classic on like Rocky or Raging Bull, or a documentary about a real fighter, far more entertaining than a "fake" fighter

from all the hype, i was left a little disappointed with the film, im not particularly a fan of boxing films tbh, i find them a bit hollywood/cheesy/unrealistic,
one of the things that disappointed me the most was the storyline, they could have done something cool with regards to that little black kid ends up dying, i felt like, why even include the kid if he never ended up getting any storytime to connect with him, they could have gone somewhere with that, the fight scenes were a little cheesy/hollywood,
but for me, modern films like this shouldnt include seasoned actors, that youve seen in countless films, it ruins the realism of the film, its the same reason why ive never watched the film "Ali" becuase will smith is the lead role, mark wahlberg in "the fighter" was just bearable, both great actors but, will smith... as a boxer? impersinating Ali, i cant put myself through that, the fighter could have been an epic film, but i refused to watch it for years due to the fact it didnt include 2 of his greatest fights/wins against Burton and Gatti

this fight is my favourite fight of all time, hollywood cant make this...

It's not easy to make a good sporting movie. There has never been a good one about the action in football but "The Damned United" about personalities was pretty good. I'm a football fan and I''ve watched the attempts to try and create a movie about what it was like from a fan's perspective back then, but they can't do it because unless you were involved and part of it it hasn't got the reality. " Seve " brought tears to my eyes because he was my sporting hero but that was because it as half fiction half visuals fact,

Name a good sporting film ? I hated Southpaw because it just seemed to personify a boxer losing everything at the expense of his promoter.

Jamie - how come there has never been a movie about how Terry Marsh shot Frank Warren and got away with it, and defended himself in court.

Million dollar baby winning an Oscar sums it up sporting wise,
