Perhaps my comment was little vague for you young'uns. The 70's were a particularly bad time for plane hijackings. Wiki counts 42! Including perhaps the most (in) famous hijacking of all time which came to a conclusion at Entebbe airport, in Uganda, which was under Idi Amin's control at the time. He (almost) made Pol Pot look like a nice guy.

As a kid in the early 1960s, I flew to England for the first time. My parents took separate flights.
People wore suits, free cigarettes, nuts, toys.
"Fly me to Cuba" hijackers. Now there are charters.
