richard, perhaps you missed this in the OPbvanfossen wrote: Hi everyone, here's my first post, cheers!
I just got home last night from spending a month in Cambodia, predominantly P.P. I would like to find a job there and move.
He's not going to America.
He's coming here. I've made it slightly more legible for you.
So...should we give advice/info for the US, or for here?
(It's rhetorical)

Re: Finding a job advise needed
Richard, I'm not picking your posts. If you or anybody posts stuff I disagree with, I'll say so, that's what happens on forums. Nobody gets special treatment, good or bad. Stop hiding behind this blind...ooh, he disagreed with me because he dislikes me...it's as pathetic as a race card. An associate degree would be worthless here, and I've told him that, based on 20 years' teaching experience in the location he wants to move to. What your daughter does in America is meaningless. And anybody who thinks an associate degree is not superior to a full one needs their heads examined, I think even you agree on that. Relax, we're not out to get you. Chill.

Starbucks baristas in the US make more money than pretty much any teacher in SE Asia.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Fri Jun 08, 2018 7:50 am US

Minimum wage is $15 an hour where I'm from. That's $2400 a month.
No education required.
Plenty of good paying jobs even without an AA or AS too if you're not a lazy piece of shit. Elevator servicemen and boilermakers make $35 - $45 an hour.
In my opinion you'd have to be insane to come to Southeast Asia for work.
I'm here for the pussy. At least the OP's heart is in the right place then even if his wallet is isn't.

What do you know? QS world university rankings out today:
1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA)
2. Stanford University (USA)
3. Harvard (USA)
4. CalTech (USA)
Not seeing any South Africa or Koh Kong based universities there That Genius. Wonder how many people have been scammed by these obvious American imperialist fools? My graduate school was ranked a measly 13. I guess I got ripped off too. I wonder if I can get a $4 an hour job teaching English if I stay in Cambodia for 20 years?

Re: Finding a job advise needed
If someone lacks a degree, I'd strongly suggest you skip over any TEFL course besides a CELTA.
Sure, you might be able to find great courses from no-name schools who throw in a few days of temple tours for you, help you throw your CV in a pile of the others you do own the course with, and could very well teach you just as much if not more than you will learn in a CELTA course, but none of that really helps you get a job more than having a CELTA from a university that anyone in the universe would know by name (University of Cambridge).
