Faulty Angkor Cans

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Of the local crap beer(comparable largely to the crap light beer elsewhere in the world imo), I prefer Ganzberg. At least it has some sort of a wheat beer-ish kind of flavor to it, rather than the bad carbonated water known as Angkor. And all of it's better than the cheap popular crap popular in the US, Budweiser. Ugh...

But personally, I'll spend a little more on something better. I can make a pretty good Manhattan at home for cheap here, Black Panther stout is the same price as the light colored crap beer, etc. I really prefer not to drink Angkor, and only will if it's bought for me or - I'm particularly warm at a restaurant, they have no other light beer available, and it's a place with it on $.50 tap. When those particular stars align, I'll drink one.
Do you think the parents of baby boomers whined so much when the boomers started changing society? And yet the whiney ones like to call young people "snowflakes." Hmm...

I like piss weak lagers, and I drink them from cans with ice. So they are even weaker. However I skull a whole lot more beers per night than any of these people who lurk over a craft-beer for too long. It's hot here so I like drinking a lot of water and if there is alcohol in there that's even better as it cuts the edge off the day. There is a decent choice of piss-water these days. Top of the pile is Cambodia Beer, which will always be my favorite since I won $1000 off one of their pull rings a few years ago. Anchor is ok too as far as insipid drinks go. Tiger Beer and Heineken are acceptable drinks, Budweiser will always be watery crap but at least it doesn't leave a nasty aftertaste. Ganzberg and Angkor are just plain gross and just a step below the hell of Black Panther or ABC. 8-)

Ganzberg is the piss of the spawn of Satan. It is absolutely vile. A beer masquerading as "German" which isn't. I tried it once, couldn't even bring myself to swallow it. Gross!!

I'm curious JB, I got the same photo of the $2,200 ring-pull prize from a PP pal via Whatsapp, which turned out to be an absolute hoax. It could well be that we have a mutual friend

Craft beer is where it's at, as I was posting on TOF.

This is one of my Cambo favorites

I have had no beer at all in November, December or February. January had a holiday so partook 6-7 times, but I have a new norm of not drinking 3-6 month periods each year. Not sure if I'm going to have a drink in March or say fuck it and wait until June. I'm a 2 times per week kind of drinker when I am not fasting.

Be careful with the daily drinking, I think it'll eventually fuck up your liver if you have over 3 per day but someone smarter than I can confirm.

Looks like a tasty brew...

I have a few of beers every day after work, have done since my early 30's. Fridays and Saturdays are my beers down the pub with mates days. (Approaching 20 years like this now.) I'm relatively fit and healthy (although could do with losing a kilo or 2), and have a healthy liver function measured only a few months ago. (It's tested for other reasons every 12 months.) Doc knows my lifestyle, no point lying to your doctor. He's happier that I quit smoking and improved my eating habits rather than the few beers I have. I'm not saying it's healthy, I'm just saying "everything in moderation".

Regardless of what various reports say about healthy drinking, testing of your liver and getting good results should definitely put some worry to rest. I have done health tests (3 pages worth) when I bought some life insurance in the last couple of years.

People should go get those checkups with bloodwork every couple of years IMO

Easier to give up the Angkor. I prefer Beer Lao as my main drink but will grudgingly drink Leo if Lao is unavailable. :beer3:

Yeah, this guy lives in the Middle East and was just visiting, the number seemed a bit weird - I'd expect it to be rounded off to the nearest $500 or something.
