Fake Monk Fashions

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

BTW Samouth, on another thread I said approximately:

I consider missionaries of any faith among the 3rd world poor, who mention religion in connection with their services without being first specifically asked about religion by an individual local to be exploitative and immoral.

Do you agree?

Some people are contaminating this threat with disrespectful comments about real monks/Buddhism - not cool. Nobody's forcing you to believe anything, what has the Sangha done to you?

In regards to the fake Chinese nuisance monks, (Instant) Karma's gonna get them, gonna knock them right on their heads.

yeah these monks are fake scammers..
my first experience with them was when one came into a restaurant me and my friends were eating in, one of my friends agreed to buy 1 of the bracelets he was wearing and put some money in his pot, the 'monk' looked at the 'Donation' picked it out and and asked for more, i told the 'monk' to piss off.. 1. monks arent allowed to touch the money and 2. monks aren't allowed to ask for anything only receive.. also im sure monks arent allowed to decorate themselves either whether it be beads or perfume etc.

It depends what order they are in. There are real Chinese monks who wear beads.

yes but they only wear/use the Mala's (the chanting/prayer beads) to keep count of the number of mantra's chanted or recited the Buddhas name, and its usually only an Abbot that would wear them all the time, and maybe some high ranking monks, the rest would normally just carry them around with them and not wear them, thats including the Chan/Zen Buddhism in china..

for anyone interested the Malas traditionally have 108 beads...
"6 x 3 x 2 x3 = 108
6 senses of a human being: sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, thought
3 times: past, present, future
2 conditions of heart, mind or intention: pure or impure
3 disturbing emotional states or "kleshia": like, dislike, indifference" <--- taken from a website as couldnt remember lol

The false monks make money so easily, New term needed:

monk-ease: (n) the ease with which fakers con newby tourists to hand over cash in exchange for worthless plastic shite made in China.

Example: The monk-ease with which the fake monk motherfucker defrauded the American female tourist was both astounding and humorous to behold.
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
