Yes, as long as the debit card from the foreign bank has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it.

Correct, it's all "sit down" and "sorry Sir" for Maestro.Mr. Virchey wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 7:48 am Yes, as long as the debit card from the foreign bank has a Visa or Mastercard logo on it.

Re: Fake $50 bill from an ANZ ATM
Hi, I've lived in Cambodia for over 6 years and must have withdrawn way over $100k from ABA and various other ATM's. Maybe I've been lucky, but I can honestly say
I've never received a fake bill from any ATM.

More or less the same here, since 2009. Can't vouch for each and every bill but at least neither myself or the receiver noticed a fake one.The Whisperer wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 8:17 am Hi, I've lived in Cambodia for over 6 years and must have withdrawn way over $100k from ABA and various other ATM's. It this is true, and ATM's do give out 'ghost money', then why has nobody noticed when in the ATM, and people always discover it when they want to spend the money? All foreigners who've been in Cambodia for over two weeks have learned to check every dollar bill (for dirt and tears). The ATM's must have some very smart AI system inside only giving out ghost money to rookies.

I have been coming to Cambodia for 10 years and have made many, many ATM withdrawls over those years and this has never happened before, until this month. And it was ANZ, not ABA.

And you are 100% sure it was the ATM? I mean, 100% as in no room for doubt. The bills have not been out of your sight between the withdrawal and the time time you found out?Mr. Virchey wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:24 am I have been coming to Cambodia for 10 years and have made many, many ATM withdrawls over those years and this has never happened before, until this month. I've done this exercise once with a guy claiming to have been given fake notes by an ATM and it turned out the notes had been in his room safe for a few days before he found out.

Hey, I'm not doubting you. I only mentioned ABA because they are my main bank for withdrawals when I'm in town. I've used lots of other banks ATM's when there hasn't been an ABA ATM in the area. No doubt I will have used an ANZ ATM at some point. I've never had a problem with fake notes.Mr. Virchey wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 9:24 am I have been coming to Cambodia for 10 years and have made many, many ATM withdrawls over those years and this has never happened before, until this month. Re: Fake $50 bill from an ANZ ATM
Can you elaborate as yo why you're sure? Did you see the fake bill right away while inside the booth? Did you not have any other bills in your wallet at the time of withdrawal? Give us a timeline of when you withdrew and every step you took from that moment to the moment you realized the bill was fake.
Not trying to pressure you, but it's easy to not have 100% ironclad proof. For example, you dumped those bills with another pile of cash you had in your dresser, or your wallet had cash, or you stopped by a shop etc. Try to think back at every step and recount then for us.
I'm in the same boat as Kammekor. Ten years of living and withdrawing money, and never once got a fake. The odds are rather slim, but I suppose not completely impossible.

I have already explained. I am not saying that there is some epidemic happening, just that I was very unlucky, and it appears some others have too.
